The 2014 free agent class could include LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Dirk Nowitzki, ... http://sulia.com/c/basketball/f/a17ef29 ... ce=twitter

Dwight Howard and Steve Nash are the only Lakers under contract in 2014. LA could add 2nd and 3rd star from this class:

Re-signing with the Lakers makes sense for Dwight Howard. For next 2 years, compete for ring with this core. Then, reload in summer of 2014.

Imagine Lebron joining D12 in LA in 2014.

I love how everyone assumes Dwight has already signed a new 5 year deal with LA. He's not under contract with the lakers in 2014.

Does anybody else think that we may run with this lineup if we don't trade Harrington?

Jameer/?
Afflalo/JJ/Eyenga
Turk/Harkless/Q
Harrington/Nicholson/Ayon/McRoberts
BBD/Vucevic/Oquinn

I mean it almost seems GUARANTEED that we trade a few big men....but if Harrington isn't traded, I don't see the PF lineup being BBD/Harrington/Nicholson , but maybe I'm wrong. I see Nicholson getting more burn than that...

Did you not see him grinning from ear to ear for his entire 30 minute press conference? He is thrilled to be a Laker. Signing the contract is just a formality at this point.

so morey says hennigan made the best move available and people still argue that the houston trade was better? he took the toughest job in the nba and did the best trade that fit his long term plans. i support rob and this move.

Yeah, I've come to grips with that it was terrible trade for us, but still the best move available. In that case, Rob did alright.

The protections on those picks kill me though. I don't see why those were so necessary.

They conveniently gloss over info like that, so they can keep thinking the fantasy trade was on the table - lamb, jones, white, Motiejunas, toronto pick, parsons, kmart, get rid of turkoglu/duhon/jrich...

SVG said he thinks Lakers is a perfect situation for Howard given his strengths on D and Rebounding at both ends of floor.

Said he doesn't see Lakers posting him up as much as Howard would like but will get offensive numbers from PnR with Nash.

Said he doesn't see a problem with it all fitting together for Lakers with addition of Howard and Nash. SVG went on to say he thinks Howard is a smart b-ball player and makes few mistakes, knows the other players on the frontline. Had to tell Howard to be quiet during personnel meetings cuzz Howard knew so much about them and they wanted others to learn.

Of course other GMs are going to be complimentary of Hennigan...they are all licking their chops at getting their chance to run him over, or in Kupchak's case, getting to take his lunch money a second time.

SVG said a lot of things went wrong with organization other than him and Dwight.

Doesn't blame what happened with him being fired on Dwight.

SVG felt Magic FO was to blame for what happened and went off course with how they handled the situation.

If Morey was licking his chops and felt like he could run over Hennigan, then why did he end up feeling like Mckayla Maroney after winning silver at the olympics (a direct quote from him btw)?

Pakishazi pretty much got it. I'm sure ESPN radio will have a link available tomorrow or something.

Wouldn't it be something if SVG and D12 kissed and made up, and then SVG took over as head coach of the Lakers next year.

Edit: This actually just made me think...Mike Brown won't last in LA imo...what if this paves the way for the return of Phil Jackson?

I do not like or dislike the trade. IMO you cannot make a judgement on it for about 3 years.

But can someone explain to me how this trade is better than a deal with the nets at the deadline last year for Lopez/Brooks/1st??

I guess my question is, when have you seen GMs publicly patting a peer on the head like this? It's freaking embarassing. When your competitors treat you like this it is condescending, NOT complimentary. He is in over his head, and they are circling like sharks is how I take it. Hey, maybe i'm wrong and he has won their eternal respect with his steely reserve on those pick protections...you never know.

That being said, I am done lambasting the worst trade negotiation i've ever seen. Won't hear another peep out of me about it. Looking forward to watching Harkless and Nicholson develop this year.

OMG how freaking gullible are some of you. Morey said that Rob must have taken what "he" thought was the best deal. Not what "was" the best deal. That's just simple logic right there, of course Rob thought it was the best deal, that's why he made it.

Rudy Gay and Danny Granger are on the block to keep Indy and Memphis out of the luxury tax. Given we were interested in adding either or back in May. Do we make a play at the deadline with our TPE new assets and jump start the rebuild? By then we can shut either one down with a phantom injury and go for a lottery pick.
