Honestly, every time you get a CT scan or X-ray your chance of getting cancer increases and that's about it. MRI is the way to go if you're not loaded with metal, but it's more expensive. MRI scans use radio and magnets. Ultrasound is safe too. There are extreme's in both cases though (really really strong MRI scanners will make you sick to your stomach if exposed too fast to the magnetic field and ultrasound can burn you if it is in a spot too long - it's like sonar for your body, sometimes this is done intentionally as a therapy method). I had to take a medical imaging class where we went over all the boring **** about the different methods.

you'll have a problem with the kicks you'll be buying BT so I suggest keep your cool or else you'll have to buy replacements asap.

Damn, I've had countless MRI/CT scans during my bout with the congenital cyst in my neck. I forgot which one it was, but one of the procedures required some sort of radioactive dye or something that was injected, which gave me serious nausea.

@ Tugs, Gek's brain should conceivably get him a lot of other peoples brain

@ TY
Yup that brace is Protection level 1.

I go with the Protection Level 3 because I have no other options.

Protect yo $#!%!

@BT
I thought I either had a clean break or at least broken bone spur in ankle but the Doctors said it was good.
My bones probably took like a miniature bend but should heal back with no complications.
Real talk the Doc actually said "Miniature bend" LmAo

Its back to normal now it's just I'll never ever hit up the hardwood without my Mcdavids strapped on tight. :wink:

I got the same mcdavids brace. It's great, more importantly it gives me confidence. One of the major problems I had once I hurt my ankle was confidence in it's ability. Shuffling weight on it caused me to injure it further.

I didn't even know miniature bends were a thing.

if you had a dye, it was a CT, although it probably wasn't radioactive... usually radioactive dies are for fluoroscopy or pet scans (which you may have had). Often times though pet scanners and CT scanners are integrated together because the CT scan allows them to more accurately calibrate the pet scanners, plus you can get some cooler pictures when you combine them.

MRI's are completely safe.

Gek wrote:Planar x-rays don't really tell you much about soft tissues (unless you can see a ligament pulling a bone away) and Kali's looks like a pretty dated machine, making it more difficult - works well for breaks/fractures still. You can get more soft tissue information out of a CT scan though because it's not a projection through your body - a planar x-ray is like shining a flashlight through your hand and CT is like slicing your hand into pieces, but both use "x/gamma rays".

This is awesome. Thanks for the knowledge bro. I'm not a vain person or anything like that it's just when this injury occurred I was miserable for good while. I got lucky thats for sure and any info I hear especially positive brings a big smile to face :D

@BT
I think the Doc was talking down stupid for me to understand. LMAO
Main thing was once he said there is NO break or fracture I knew it was gonna be smooth sailing from here on out. :D

Must have been a fluoroscopy or pet scan, because I had to sign a waiver regarding the whole radioactive dye thing being injected. Thanks for the info.

If I could pick anyone on the board to become a super hero, it would be BT because he seems like a swell guy.

It goes inside the shoe no doubt. LoL

Nah it's actually pretty comfortable . Its no different from when you tape your ankles.
It might take some time to get used to it but after it's cool.
