Curious what Packer fans think of FA Jarrett Boykin?

At a school that's has Eddie Royal, Josh Morgan, David Clowney, and Jeff King making NFL catches right now, and has produced Carol Dale, Andre Davis, Ernest Wilford, and Antonio Freeman, he's #1 in both catches and yardage. All he does is get open, catch the ball, and power for yards after the catch. And you definately won't see defenders wrestling the ball away from him once he gets it in his paws.

He got open on a deep post pattern that would have been a TD with a better throw from Harrell. Haven't seen enough of him.

If I had to guess, I'd say he's a pretty strong candidate for the practice squad.

Boykin is a clever route runner. It's apparent why he broke the major receiving records at Virginia Tech, but his speed is ordinary.

There a lot of young receivers in camp vying for one roster spot (maybe) and a practice squad spot (maybe). When asked who has impressed him in camp, Williams didn't hesitate. Undrafted rookie Jarrett Boykin from Virginia Tech has caught his attention. In the intrasquad scrimmage a couple weeks ago, he broke free from Williams' grasp for some extra yards, too.

Boykin had five receptions for 65 yards on Thursday night.

“He’s a good receiver,” Williams said. “He’s undrafted but he’s ahead of his class for an undrafted guy. He runs good routes. He has big hands. I think he wear a 3 or 4XL glove. He has big hands. He’s smooth. He just gets the job done. I like what I see out of him.”

I like Boykin a lot, maybe more than Borel or Gurley. I just don't see where he'd fit on the roster. If we could stash him on the PS, that would be great.

He looked better than Cobb in the preseason games to me. Borel and Gurley have looked terrible to me, too.

Unless James Jones gets traded (unlikely), probably not. He certainly should be offered a practice squad spot, although I think he may follow the path of Chastin West and catch on a more WR-needy teams active roster. Heck of a camp/preseason by Boykin.

Well if he has the 6th spot locked if they keep 6 WR's. Gurley and Borel both gone.
