What I find humorous is that most of the people saying Rob = Next Otis, league is rigged, worst trade of all time etc are the guys who thought/guaranteed Dwight was going to stay with the Magic

Those guys obviously had a hard time understanding the Dwight situation, I'm not so sure I value their opinion on this trade. If you think this trade was simply for Affalo and Harrington you don't understand it.

With that being said, does this trade make me happy? No. And that's because I wanted Bynum. BUT, I am willing to give this trade a chance because no one knows how our assets/draft picks turn out for another 3 years.

Here's why your, and many others, analysis is pointless...because you are all focusing on next years win totals. Could a Lopez/Wallace or an Iggy trade made us a better team next year? Sure. But those trades also leave you in the mediocrity of being a 5-8 seed for years to come, with no chance of obtaining a top draft pick.

So you must ask yourself, what is more important, being a 1 and done team in the playoffs each year, or eventually winning that championship? Because I can promise you, the Lopez or Iggy deal get you no where near a championship, in fact, although you may have more wins you are actually farther away from the ultimate goal in the future.

Everyone knows you have to have a star to contend. Your not contending with Iggy nor Lopez. So the next 2 years will be about devolping young players and obtaining high draft picks to gets those "stars."

So everyone who says a Lopez/Bynum/Iggy deal was the better choice, you must enjoy being a 1 and done team. If winning a championship is your ultimate goal, which it is here in Orlando, then going this route 'a la the OKC route,' is the way to go.

Brook Lopez/Wallace MAYBE could lead a team to the 8th seed. But Brook Lopez/Brooks/Draft pick definitely would not have landed us in the playoffs and probably would have made us have a worst record this upcoming season.

Huh? I said I preferred Bynum, but am willing to give this trade a shot.

And then ur stuck with the worst contract in the league in Brook Lopez. I'm pretty sure the Magic are sick of owning that distinction.

Good read

http://www.hoopsworld.com/nba-pm-the-or ... ster-plan/

The Magic wanted to completely rebuild rather than retool. Sure, the Magic could’ve traded Howard for a couple of veterans and finished as the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference each year. However, Hennigan felt that it would be better to bring in prospects, acquire draft picks and create cap space. Rather than settling and becoming a middle-of-the-pack team, this gives Orlando the chance to become an elite team in several years by drafting multiple lottery picks and adding pieces through free agency. Hennigan is determined to build a contender, even if it means losing for awhile to reach that point.

Before becoming an elite team, the Oklahoma City Thunder had to endure a dreadful three-year stretch when they went 74-172. They were one of the youngest teams in the league and they struggled to compete on a nightly basis. However, the losing seasons yielded Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden, who recently led them to the NBA Finals. It takes excellent drafting and some luck to go from bottom feeder to contender, but Hennigan was the assistant general manager in Oklahoma City and has seen firsthand that it’s possible.

Sorry dude, but the Brook Lopez contract is being waaaaaay overblown.

Roy Hibbert got the max.. Pek will get the max next year... Mcgee got a lot

Top 2 offensive center in the league who is legit 7" and is 24 years old getting the max? Sounds about right to me and everyone else. Then you throw the name Brook Lopez into the equation and the contract totally becomes horrible to everyone. Lopez can be a good 2nd or 3rd option on a contender.

BTW Lopez isn't even the worst contract on his own team, or 2nd worst for that matter

I'm only delusional to you because I go by logic while you base your opinion on your emotions.

Keeping Dwight here was and needed to be our priority number 1. Even Hennigan tried to get him to stay. Just because the relationship soured, I never let that come in the way of what I thought was best for this team. Too many fans (including you as I recall...I could be wrong) reacted like a guy who's girlfriend dumped him and now he didn't want anything to do with her. I have a hard time getting along with people who put logic aside and base their opinions on their emotions.

My Spurs front office said this Hennigan guy is a joke...I think they know what they are talking about. Kupchak praises this guy because he just crushed him a trade. lmao Hennigan should be a used car salesman...not an NBA GM.
