If we past on Bynum with the HOPE of obtaining Rudy Gay down the road, then we don't deserve an NBA team.

Anybody know anything about OKC ownership? Are they loaded? Profitability, etc? I mean with:

Durant - $18mil
Westbrook - $14mil
Perkins - $8.5mil
Ibaka - $9.5mil

that's $50mil on just 4 players right there

If they keep Harden at around $14mil....that's $64mil on just those 5 guys next year. Sefalosha and Collison tack on another $6.5mil and that basically puts them over the tax. They still have to put another 8 guys or so on the roster....that's gonna get pretty darn expensive pretty quickly for them tax-wise in a couple of years. I would still be pretty shocked if they just let Harden go though....gonna be interesting to see what Presti does here. IMO ownership would be dumb to break up that "big 4", even if it meant going into the tax a bit.

Did not see this posted anywhere

“@WojYahooNBA: Anthony Parker, who retired after nine distinguished NBA seasons, is joining the Orlando Magic as a scout, league sources tell Y!”

Why is everybody so happy about this btw? Does he have experience scouting? I guess I'm a little confused by the pickup....that's all. Not saying it's bad or good, just almost....random?

Do you think the FO values Harper and Liggins, or are we making them out to be better than they really are?

Liggins, Harper and Ish are near the bottom because they haven't seen the floor much. At least Harper and Liggins. Hard to gauge their rank on that small of a sample. Ish is young and needs to get a chance.

Good news is Nicholson, Vucevic, and Harkless aren't on the list yet, though I'd think they both show up on the next set of 100. Wonder who is higher or our rookies. I guess Vucevic.

btw, how is Duhon not in the worst list?

The minute he became a Laker, ESPN immediately considered him a great backup PG & wouldn't surprise me if he's gonna be higher than most of our players on that list.

I don't see any real impressive free agents in the next couple of years. The best of them are really only 2nd options at best on a championship team.

It's actually quite funny how the last few pages have been about Ibaka and Harden. Pretty much everyone agreed that Ibaka was the one left out.. Well they might pay Harden also but it seems less likely with Ibaka's extension.

Zach Lowe‏@ZachLowe_SI

$12M for Ibaka is expected but also not a bargain. Tax inevitable for OKC in '14 and '15. Getting under/close in the next 2 years is the key

Westbrook, welcome to Orlando.

I'm very interested to see what OKC does with Harden; and, with our direction, if we make a play for him.

My guess is they will try to get some value for him as there are a bunch of teams with cap space next year so I think we have a good shot with an offer of afflalo/resigned redick for harden as it would give them a vet that fits their system at about half the price and would generate them around 7 million TPE.

Also, it would take a few additional deals but if hennigan use his cap space to absorb guys while trading his vets, for example signing for harden while sending afflalo and than going for gortat while sending davis than we could even get three guys with our cap space, say Harden, gortat and than going for deng to go along with our young guys and picks, that should make us a contender in 2 years.

Am I the only one who thinks Harden isn't all that great? Great complimentary player, yes, but nowhere near a franchise player.

Redick or Afflalo, Baby, and our 13 pick for Harden.

Get it done.

not the only one. I agree with you. He benefits from playing off the bench against 2nd tier players in the beginning of games. He seems a little too slow against the top10 SG's and too small against the SF's of today.

Count me in that group as well. I think he is fun as heck to watch, but 3rd option on an elite team is the perfect role for him. Would love to have him on the Magic, just not as our best player.

I love Haden's game and if given the opportunity, I think he'll surprise a lot of the doubters here. He's a Presti/Henny guy so that means he's the ultimate team player; and because of that, behind Westbrook & Durant in the pecking order, he knows he doesn't have to be THAT guy. On his own team, he'd step up.

Harden is so smooth and his court vision is exceptional for his position. He's also a very good passer, solid defender, and will only get better.

I'm a big Harden fan as well, and the potential of him being a #1 or even #2 scorer is well worth the $14M he'll be getting.

Luckily for us, I doubt the Thunder are interested in paying his salary doubled for the next few seasons so long as Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka and Perkins are on the payroll.

OKC will be close to the lux tax threshold next year if they remain status quo. $52M tied up in the four core guys previously mentioned makes it tough to add additional salary when you still have to fill up roster slots and have a few players under contract making north of $2M per annum. Three guys (Sef, Collison, Aldrich) will account for nearly $10M. That's now $62M for seven players. Do they re-sign Maynor or Cook? Do they use the MLE this summer (or even a portion of it)?

So many variables. At the end of the day, Harden will not be back unless Westbrook is dealt. My $.02.
