Lebron James a better person than Michael Jordan?

Post#1 » by MigrainePatrol » Sun Aug 19, 2012 6:23 am

I feel that he is overall. Jordan gave me no tip when I delivered him his dry cleans 11 years ago Ritz Carlton Residential Washington D.C. Okay putting that aside, I believe Lebron James is a genuinely good guy that maybe be a better person than MJ. What do you guys think?

This should be obvious, at least obvious to the people that know these two. Lebron has only done like 2-3 a-holeish things, Jordan? Too many to count.

The only way this is relevant is if you're talking about how they treat teammates, as since your teammates are the other guys on the court with you you're trying to get wins with, one's relationship with one's teammates can affect the results on the court (e.g., Shaq/Kobe).
I remember your posts from the RPOY project, you consistently brought it. Please continue to do so, sir. This board needs guys like you to counteract ... worthless posters

This video should be relevant as well then...

It's a coincidence that you made this thread, I was thinking about this the other day and I was right about to make a thread very similar to this.

I find it's funny that a lot of the basketball community takes knocks on LeBron for joking with his team mates, dancing, and being "too nice" of a guy. Jordan gets praised for extreme OCD anti-social like behavior; riding teammates to the point of harassing, punching teammates, being a huge a-hole, ect ect, because in the end it got results. When you look at the bigger picture it seems like LeBron is the more rounded human being and like I said he ends up getting criticized for it.

First, who the hell cares? Is this TMZ we watch them ball that's it.

Second, Had MJ played in the internet media age his rep would not be nearly as shiny as it came out as. Pretty much every gambling game gone wrong, every fight with a team mate, if he ever so much as brushed off fans it would all be there out in the open like today.

I didn't tip the kid that handed me a coffee the other morning, how can I make up for this? What a terrible person I am!

You may have to reconsider Lebron he's been accused of even more heinous crimes

"Seems he once made a Cleveland steak house stay open until 4 in the morning so he could finish his feast. The bill: $800. The tip: $10."

But seriously, both of these guys do so much charity work I can't get worked up that they don't throw money at every person they interact with.

I get a kick out of some of the comments people get worked up over with Jordan. I mean has anyone ever been on a team before? This is the stuff Barkley said routinely. If your skin is that thin you should have never made it to the NBA.

You have to watch out with saying "Who is the better Person'. Some people value leadership and results over caring and understanding. You could say LeBron is the warmer, more friendly person.

Keep in mind this is mostly speculation though since like aihonui06 said, we don't know them well enough at a personal level to know what type of people they are deep down.

And I wouldn't really call this post TMZ, it's not like we are seeing who MJ and LBJ are dating constantly. The post does have relevancy to basketball, it asks, is Basketball really EVERYTHING?

It's so hard to know because we don't know what happened. Everyone is guessing/speculating. I've always heard LBJ is a good dude but there's no way to know.

I'm an big MJ fan/Lebron detractor, but yes I'd say Bron is most likely a better person and far easier to get along with.

Lebron is spoiled, and has a huge ego. Which, is not entirely his fault. If any one of us were placed on such high a pedestal as Lebron was since an early age, and were blessed with such amazing physical talent, I'm sure we'd become egomaniacs as well.

Lebron at heart though I think is a big goofball, and enjoys having fun. He seems friendly with virtually every player in the league.

Mike is just a degenerate gambling, wife cheating, cynical, critical pr!ck. He seems to have a chip on his shoulder against the world. Idk, maybe it has a lot to do with his father's murder. That most likely made him a lot more bitter towards people.

Still, it's well documented that he generally treats people like ****.

funny you said this, there was this one story of Mj and wayne gretzky hanging ing out in las vegas. they ordered drinks and appearantly MJ didnt give no tip, so wayne gretzky embarassed the hell out of him by pulling the girl to the side and giving her a hundred dollar tip, and mentioned infront of everyone "thats how you tip michael"

theres also this story with chamilionaire asking him to sign his jersey or something and said if he paid hed do it.

Lol barkley said hes a cheap skate, that he even ridicules beggars who asks him for petty change and coins when they ask him for some.

i like MJ just like everyone else too, but i agree with everything you said. even before his father's murder he always had a chip on his shoulder. its just in his personality to be a prick, and to be competitive.

its his blessing and his curse. seriously, i wonder how many real friends MJ have, all of them seems to be like yes men.

We can't know for sure from this distance. But considering what we have seen and been told by the media, yeah, LeBron is a much better person. That could be related to Mike being the better basketball player, BTW.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Personally i think they are both douche bags in different kind of ways. With Michael its more about what stories do you believe.. etc but there's alot that paint him as an ass. Lebrons more on the surface, the decision, "you'll still have to go on living your life tomorrow and ill continue to be me" etc.

But, Who cares really? They are basketball players and that's all i really care about. I guess they way they treat their team mates matter but thats about it.

Side note chamillionaire seems like a pretty cool dude.

Around the same, and both of them probably have some bitterness from their father situations. In pop-culture I think LeBron will be remembered as more of a douche simply because "The Decision" and "Taking my talents to South Beach" have become bad jokes everyone can laugh at

MJ is more open and even viscous about his douche ness, while LeBron is more unaware, spoiled, almost passive aggressive, and surrounds himself with douches. IIRC there was even an ESPN story about how LeBron and his crew treat clubs and their workers poorly

MJ's already been covered in the thread so here we go on LBJ:

-LeBron is above criticism even constructive criticism from his team and coach. See Delonte West and the Cavs leading on about how everyone has to own up for their actions except LeBron.

-Held a reality TV show farce aka The Decision that was like a ratings nuke for Cleveland. Ohio freaking loved LeBron and yes LeBron basically stabbed them in the back on TV, making people forget or dismiss the donation aspect of the show. Will never see something like that again, that took douche to an epic level that even Kanye West would be shocked at

-Has a posse that follows and works for him, but not even Nike likes them or LeBron's decision to use them. Back in the LeBron Sweepstakes, other franchises even the Heat wanted to put their foot down on adding those guys to the payroll

-Two kids, one where he's a teen, still not even technically married yet to Gloria. Yea yea poor rich kids but kind of interesting considering his own fatherless upbringing

And now time to take a cold shower after getting too much into TMZ psycho analysis armchair stuff
