Treadmill? How do you figure. Yeah we would have money tied up in Lee, but outside of him everybody would be young on rookie deals with tons of upside. That is not a treadmill team.
A treadmill team is a team that is capped out and players past their prime with no real shot of getting out of first round.
Kemba, Thompson, MKG, Taylor, Biz, Mully all on rookie deals. Still keeping our pick and either Portland or Detroit pick.
This team could compete for playoffs while still being young and improving or worst case we end up with a high lottery pick haha
Still have money coming off books next year with Carroll and Reggie. Then following year ton of money gone with BG coming off the books. By the time BG is coming off the books we would be contending and would give us the capspace to sign the last piece to championship contending team.

Re: Bobcats Future Plans
JMAC3, I don't know how Golden State would approach such an offer, but I'd seriously doubt we would do it. Thompson is arguably a better shooter than Hendo, but he doesn't strike me as a hands-down future star either. While Lee represents some significant skills down low, he is truly a bad defender and his contract is a HUGE black hole for years to come.
I share your concerns about shooting, but don't underestimate the ability Sessions has for hitting shots. His 3 pt range really improved last season. I still believe he may have the right stuff to win our starting PG spot. Gordon will see plenty of minutes also. Hopefully MKG will be judicious in his shot selection and not enter into brick city by forcing bad jumpers.

We wouldn't get a top 5 pick, and we wouldn't be in a position to win anything. Do the math.

lol!! I was just about to post this same link and you beat me by seconds. Ingram really likes what Cho has done, and I have to agree. He is turning it around for us. Just have to remain patient and trust Cho to make the right moves.

2014/15 Line up
Kemba, Sessions
A Wigg, Hendo
Kidd G, Jay T
Mully, TT
Nerlens, Biz
I think this team might disappoint Chicago into a mid first rounder instead of a lotto.

I don't think we stay bad enough to get Wiggy in '14.

Re: Bobcats Future Plans
Maybe if we can sign a major free agent next summer we will see significant improvement. But do keep in mind that our players are still young, and we still do not have a reliable scorer signed long term. Next summer if we draft Shabazz or Zeller that story changes a bit, because they are both scorers. Noel is a defensive force unless he is better than advertised or one of our other young players comes into his own It is not likely that we are more than a thirty win team 13/14. Maybe if Hendo was better, but I doubt he ever tops 17 per game. If he gets there.

Re: Bobcats Future Plans
If Hendo ever develops a three-point shot, he's a 20ppg scorer. He'll be able to drive to the rim much better if defenses actually respect his shot.

he could use a corner three at 36% or better if nothing else. just so he has somewhere to go other than the top midrange area off the ball

Yes we all know that, but it is hardly a given that Hendo will do that in the next two seasons. It is very possible that he may never get his three point shot respectable.

Re: Bobcats Future Plans
That's why I said "if". Obviously I'd love it if it happened. I think it might because he's already pretty good from mid-range. Give him another year or two working on that shot and unless he's got some kind of mental block against outside shooting, his shot should at least be respectable. I don't think it stays this bad.

Re: Bobcats Future Plans
I hope Hendo develops his three as well. As a Duke fan I have followed him since he was here in Durham. I actually delivered Jimmy John's ( my old part-time gig ) to him a few times junior year. ( No Tips ever)
I still think we are a few years away from the playoffs. Miami, Chicago, Indiana, Philly, New York, and New Jersey will all be better than us the next couple years. Washington and Cleaveland are progressing as well as we are. I just think that it will be awhile before we crack the top eight. Chicago and New York might be vulnerable in a couple of years due to age, and lack of depth, but I doubt we eclipse either the next two years.
