The same people who said even Brook Lopez was better than Bynum are the same ones acting like he is an MVP candidate now. Lots of Laker hate.

Andrew Bynum won't average 17 and 10 this season. Book it.

smh at everyone...
Bynum was always a #2 center in the league (for the last year) He has a solid post game and gets blocks rebounds, but he has yet to be efficient as a main guy. When Kobe was out, Bynum struggled.
Bynums peak is likely Miami Heat version of Shaq. Aka he will need to be paired with a top 5 player for his team to win.

man the bynum is inefficient without kobe crowd is so annoying. that is such a weak unproven claim.

well he hasnt proven he can be an efficient player playing without a very good team and 2 pretty good playmakers in kobe/gasol, so its moot really.
basically, saying "man the bynum is inefficient without kobe crowd is so annoying. that is such a weak unproven claim." is the same as saying "man the bynum will look so good without kobe chucking up shots crowd is so annoying. that is such a weak unproven claim." i understand why both parties would say it, but whats the point really?
its going to be interesting seeing him play as more of a focal point on philly, i think he'll be pretty successful, but still, theres no point in relating anything he did in LA to what he will do in philly. completely different situations.
id personally be shocked if bynum remains as efficient of a scorer as he was in LA. i also wouldnt be shocked if all his offensive numbers went down, apart from raw scoring. on the flip side, i think his defense will be better, as i think collins can get more out of him, and that he will remain more consistent in the role he will be given.

Re: RealGM Articles:Bynum Darkhorse MVP?
anyways i find the mvp award to be a joke at this point, so i dont care or understand how people rank or find dark horses for it. it no longer means best player in the league, nor does it seem to mean most important player to their team. i personally have no idea how its awarded, and therefore have a hard time finding a dark horse, let alone a favorite for it. i feel the same way about dpoy too.

Playing with a starting lineup of Holiday/Richardson or Young/Turner/Hawes/Bynum, he's going to produce on the regular. Even if Philly plays more of a slow, grind it style (as they should) and get slightly less shots off per minute than his previous Lakers teams, he's going to be the focal point. It's a given now that he's playing for a coach that understands half court basketball and he's on a team that plays more of a team ball style.
It wouldn't be unbelievable to see Bynum's stats go from 18.7/11.8/1.9blk to 22.5/12.5/2.2blk with a couple more minutes per game.nykballa2k4 wrote:Bynum is a #2 option
No.
2011-2012, Dwight Howard FGA per 36 minutes: 12.6
2011-2012, Andrew Bynum FGA per 36 minutes: 13.6
Bynum got plenty of shots last year. The Lakers did whatever they could to work the ball through him. In games that Kobe was out, his shooting percentage went way down.

my point was that people use a 7 game sample and take it as indisputable fact. that is whats annoying. people wanting to predict how bynum is going to play one way or the other are not who i was targeting.
it would be the same as someone trying to say "hey, lakers are WAY better without kobe, look at their winning percentage when he was out!"

Re: RealGM Articles:Bynum Darkhorse MVP?
There's really no dark horse with Lebron/Durant/Dwight in their primes in the upcoming season. I'd be very surprised if one of those 3 doesn't win it.
A dark horse would actually be Chris Paul or Deron Williams, both have winnable rosters without huge expectations and there's the faintest of chances that Melo might get it right in NYC.

Hey Sixers fans wait to see how he handles double teams. Awful! You can seriously frustrate him like crazy with constant doubles. Without Kobe and Pau that's pretty much all he's going to see!

He simply does not have the mentality or attitude to be an MVP.

Re: RealGM Articles:Bynum Darkhorse MVP?
drew wasn't even the best player on the lakers last yr and the best player on the lakers wasn't an mvp candidate.
Warspite:
Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

the sample is small but its all we got. from my eye test i can tell you he did not handle being without kobe so well. i think holliday is talented but no kobe.

bynum played without kobe every single game of the season, not just those 7....and most of the time it was with guards like fisher/blake/goudelock i.e. absolutely zero ability to create. anyone have stats on those stretches?

Pretty Sure Doug is going to iron those Kinks out. That's what good coaches do. Sixers surrounded Bynum with shooters. It's going to be an amazing season. I expect Turner/Holiday/Bynum to be a very formidable trio.
