Cormier only said that he would move down if Cain beats JDS. What if Cain loses? Would Cain drop down? Can he? He isn't he biggest HW, but I'm not sure if he could make the cut.

Well, if Cormier can't cut, and Hendo goes down, I'm not sure if anyone else really has a shot.

Both Cain and Cormier have plenty of weight to lose, it would seem. I guess just because Cormier couldn't diet and cut to 211 doesn't mean he ultimately couldn't fight at 205. Maybe a lifestyle change is in order. lol

Yeah, Cormier couldn't cut now, and probably shouldn't cut ever, since he's probably going to be pretty successful at HW, but a long term move to 205 isn't out of the question.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
Frankie, mercifully for himself, finally agreed to move down to 145. He'll fight in December. I'd have liked to see him get the shot straight away because he did just win the title in a bigger and much tougher division, but I'd settle for a no. 1 contender vs. KZ.
KZ shouldn't get the shot over Frankie. For beating one of the most overrated fighters in the sport in Hominick, Poirier, and Garcia. The only particularly good win was against Poirier.
As for Money Mendes, he just got his shot, and beating McKenzie didn't do anything for him in a contendership bid. He can be put on the backburner. If he beats like a Lamas and Siver/Oliveira then he's good to go again.

I don't like Torres, but that's tough for him. Have to wonder if that has to do with the whole twittergate thing.
He was what? 2-2 in the ufc? Losses to McDonald and Mighty Mouse? Hell, iirc a lot of people thought he won that Mouse fight off his back.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
That sucks. Torres has always been my favorite BW. I'm biased, but I thought that he beat MM and that he'd be a tough matchup with Cruz, because he'd be the first guy that Cruz fought that has a longer wingspan. The UFC could've made some money having Torres fight Faber. I've got to believe that his rape tweet had something to do with this because otherwise, it doesn't make sense. I read an article that a group of vets was petitioning the Marines to drop the UFC as a sponsor...****.

Yeah, I'd been holding out hope that Torres could put together another title run, just because I think Cruz/Torres would be a cool fight.
Would have also been a good time for Torres vs. Faber, with both coming off losses.

He's 3-4 in his last 7, 2-2 in UFC, all UDs, and only beating C fighters. But he is also a really exciting fighter. Weird to cut him for performance alone.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
Every media card had him beating Mighty Mouse. Most didn't even give Mighty Mouse a round. I was in that same boat. He should be 4-1 in his last 5 with a win over a contender in Demetrius Johnson and the #13 ranked BW in the world Antonio Banuelos. That's another way to look at it. The cut definitely was not solely on the basis of performance. It was almost surely due to not being publicly p.c. and not being amenable to a pay cut. He should sign with Bellator for their first BW tourney on Spike. They give you freedom of speech, as long as you don't discredit the brand like Josh Shockley did.
BTW, why wasn't Frankie Edgar moving down to 145 finally a topic of discussion here? Was it talked about in another thread? That's big news.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
The Frankie Edgar move was probably worthy of its own thread, so some people may have missed it in here. I'd be fine with new threads for most of the topics in here to be honest, but people seem to like this thread. I'd say anything that's actual fight related news (Edgar moving, Torres being cut, Jones not wanting to fight Machida, etc) could get its own thread, and if they only get 6 posts and drop off the 1st page, so be it. The last topic on the 1st page is from a month ago, so it's not like we're going to get duplicate threads cluttering up the board or anything. Anyway, back to Edgar...
It kinda sucks for him that he's essentially being forced out of the division he wants to fight in after losing two fights he thinks he won (and most people feel he won at least one of them). But now that he has decided to make the move, he should do very well there, and bring the division some much needed star power/name recognition (though his PPV numbers suggest calling him a star may be a stretch).
Might have also been more discussion if a fight was announced off the bat, though speculating might actually be more interesting. I think they may have already missed the boat with Korean Zombie, in terms of striking while the iron was hot, and now they are locked into the stupid Koch fight. If I were running things, I would have announced Zombie as the #1 contender after the Poirier fight, instead of leaving him in limbo, and put him in the upcoming title fight. Then you could put Edgar in a #1 contender fight against a guy he should beat, but would be a credible challenger should he beat Edgar. A Koch or Lamas most likely. Then you have Mendes, Hioki, and Poirer trying to rebuild their cases for a title shot.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
I don't know how I feel about how the ufc has handled these things. They take away title shots that they promised all the times. Hell, they did it to Pettis twice. They told Shogun/Vera the winner would get the shot, only to give it to Machida, just for another recent example. But then they hold to their guns on the Koch deal. Now Koch is rufus dude so I can dig that, and I'm happy for him. That said, how does this makes sense? Dana said after Edgar lost to Bendo the first time that Edgar would get an immediate shot if he dropped. Now, he beats Bendo the second time (in the eyes of everyone, including Dana) and he says that Edgar would need to win a fight?
I think this is a good move for Edgar though. 155 is much stronger than 145 in my mind. Going from fighting BJ Penn, Gray Maynard, and Ben Henderson to guys like Koch, Poirier, KZ, Hioki. I mean just from a size perspective, wow what a difference. Even if you think the 145 guys are as talented, look at the size difference of a KZ and a Bendo...yikes. On the flip side, maybe it was Edgar's speed at 155 that brought him success, and that will be diminished at 145. Who can tell?

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets, etc.
Yeah, agreed with just about everything RZ said. Namely, they should have stuck to their word with Frankie, certainly yanked the title shot away from Kock if they're being consistent, and 145 is still lacking....
145 is still extremely untalented at this stage of development. The inevitable drop downs from the 155'ers like Frankie who planted their flag there because that's a division major organizations like UFC actually formerly had will get them there eventually. But considering a name like Hijoki is being bandied about as a contender at this time tells you all you need to know. He got beat by Roop and Lamas in reality. Zombie got KTFO by Roop too. Roop was crap at 155 and Lamas was average. You think Frankie would come close to losing to guys like that. Give him the effing shot!

Forgot about Roop. He's been on sort of a slump getting KOed. But could you even imagine Frankie Edgar versus George Roop?

My brother's name is Chad, though I think he'd probably kimura the guy instead of punch him. This is absolutely something a Chad would do
