Re: Scavenger Hunt Draft - Swedd's Pick
After much deliberation between two guys, I think I'm going to go ahead and add some more defense to my big man rotation. My next pick had the versatility to play both post positions and was one of the most gifted athletes of his era. The things he was able to do at his size were truly remarkable.
Offensively, he could score from range or with his back to the basket and, while not a high volume shot taker, always played within himself which led to him being one of the more efficient big men in history. Defensively, his athleticism allowed him to range the floor, cover his man, and block all sorts of shots. Oh yeah, and he won the first ever NBA Dunk contest, beating Dr J and Dominique Wilkins.
The High-Ayatolla of Slamola had probably his best year in 1988-89 (double #s), when he was named an All-Star and First Team All-Defense while averaging:
17 points (54/80)
8 rebounds
3 blocks
2 assists

Isiah Thomas/Dennis Johnson
Ray Allen
Dominique Wilkins
Shawn Kemp/Chris Bosh
Shaquille O'Neal/Larry Nance

Got that sinking feeling as I decide and get excited about my next pick but then realise he is more than likely going to be drafted by someone else.

you should have to put an asterisk next to that statline from woolridge from that year.
the nuggets had a pace of 113.7 that season, which ranks as the fastest pace of any team since 1976. there isnt a team in the top 100 of pace in the past 20 years. the top 100 (1976-2012) is all 1991 and earlier and most from the late 70s. for comparison the 7 seconds or less suns had a pace around 96. the bobcats have never had a pace higher than 94. the fastest paced team last season was the spurs at 94.7.

you should have to put an asterisk next to that statline from woolridge from that year.that was the year paul westhead coached the nuggets and they tried to score 150 points per game (while giving up 160 of course). michael adams also scored 26ppg that same season. thats not to take anything away from woolridge. he was a capable score. he had 4 other seasons of 19+ earlier in his career. dude could always score.

Re: Scavenger Hunt Draft - Amcoolio's Pick
For my all-star I will select 2003-2004 Predrag (Peja) Stojakovic. During the 2003-2004 season Peja was incredible, shooting a ridiculous 93% from the line, 43% from 3 point land 48% overall. Its difficult to beat a team with so many godly shooters (Nash, Reggie, Peja, Yao) and especially when my team is going to shoot 28/30 from the FT line every game.
G: Steve Nash (18.6 PPG, 11.6 APG, 53% FG, 45% 3PT, 90% FT)

Re: Scavenger Hunt Draft - Amcoolio's Pick
Dog Face Ellis, Peja and Thunder Dan there is some great shooting there.
I always preferred watching sweet shooting over the dunks etc.
My favourite MJ memories is watching him take those fade away jump shots against Phoenix with 1 or 2 players draped all over him and somehow he would still swish the shot.
Speaking on another forum people reacted like this was unusual. Surely I'm not the only one.
