Chris Paul not scared of Lakers/ Best player in Los Angeles

Post#1 » by Quake Griffin » Wed Aug 22, 2012 7:46 pm

Only by means of NBA-intervention, Chris Paul is not a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Instead of joining the Lakers by way of a mammoth three-team deal in December of 2011, the trade was rescinded by the league office and, it seemed at the time at least, that Paul was not destined for a move to LA. But that was not the case as both the Lakers and Paul’s former team, the New Orleans Hornets, continued wheeling and dealing that winter and the effects were felt across the NBA.

Originally a part of the deal to acquire Paul, disgruntled Lakers’ forward Lamar Odom was instead shipped to the Dallas Mavericks that December with the Lakers receiving a massive trade exception in return. Fast forward to a year later and LA used that very exception in a sign-and-trade with the Phoenix Suns to acquire two-time NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) Steve Nash.

I don't disagree with him.

Who's the best player in the league or who are the top 5 players? There's room for debate, but Paul is definitely in the mix. The only player that I would say is clearly better than him is LeBron. Then you have few players (i.e. Durant, a healthy Howard, a healthy Rose, etc.) that all bring something different to the table and could easily be ranked ahead or behind CP based on one's preference of each player's impact.

There's not much point in being scared of any team. You have to have confidence in yourself and your team's abilities to beat any team on any given night. The paper team doesn't always win. The games have to actually be played. Injuries, chemistry, match-ups, etc. can all be influential factors to a team's success and you need them to be in your favor.

I'd be more surprised if the headline read "Chris Paul Scared of Lakers"

While the Lakers starting 4 are a pretty scary match-up, if you're fielding a team as deep as the Clippers you really can't head into a match feeling scared, especially when Chris Paul is your floor general. Plain and Simple

He better not be. You can acknowledge that an opponent has good players and will be a good team, but why should one be scared? I hope none of the guys on this team are scared of any team. If you believe in your ability and talent, then there's no need to be scared.
