It's been nearly 4 weeks since the surgery.

He's already been back on the court and practicing. I would assume he has probably done more set shots than anything. Prior to the Team USA training camp, he was working with a shooting coach. He said that they worked on changing the mechanics of his shot (e.g. eliminating the hitch), but the injury was a bit of setback for him.

forgot to say thanks for that.

I didn't know anything...so to know that he's on the court makes me feel better.

NP.

He talked a little bit about the injury on the Champs podcast that I posted a week or so ago. He's looking at it as a minor injury and nothing too serious. In one of the vids of one of our new players (not sure which one), you can see him in the background taking set shots (and kicking balls) at the training facility.

Blake Griffin is feeling good — about everything

The excitement in Blake Griffin's voice was easy to hear, and it wasn't just because his left knee feels great after the surgery that forced him to miss the Olympics.

Griffin was excited about the deals the Clippers made over the summer, about signing his long-term contract and about their chances to contend for a title, and he's also looking forward to playing the new-look Lakers.

"I came back after surgery and started rehabbing and getting back into it. I've been shooting and lifting [weights] and all that for a while now," Griffin told The Times in telephone interview Friday. "So, I'm pretty much back at 100%, been back at 100% for a little bit. So I'm good."

"In talking to my doctor, he told me if this was the season and the playoffs were coming up, I would have been out two or three weeks," Griffin said. "We're kind of taking our time with it and really making sure we meet every single area and making sure that my strength is 100% back to where it needs to be.

"But it's been there for two or three weeks now. So, really, I'm just kind of working myself into condition and still getting my basketball work in and getting my lifts in."

Blake Griffin says he's 'ready to go'

"If camp started tomorrow, I'd be ready to go," Griffin said Tuesday. "I could go now if I needed to."

"The surgery wasn't one of those things that took a long time (to recover from)," Griffin said. "It was just a matter of getting my strength back and we really took our time with it. I could have been back even earlier than that.

"I just needed to get the swelling out of the knee. That was the biggest battle. There's nothing that needs time to repair or heal. It was just reducing the swelling and getting the strength back in my leg and once I got that, I was out on the court every day."

During the offseason Griffin said he has been working on his mid-range game and his free throws, two areas of concern last season.

"I'm trying to become a more complete player," Griffin said. "I've been working on my shot, working on my free throws, those are two things I've been able to work on a lot because they're stationary."

As previously mentioned, Blake has hired a shooting coach that has worked on tearing down his former shooting habits (getting rid of the hitch) and establishing a more proper techniques. The injury was a bump in the road, but he's back to working on it.

A mid-range game along with some respectable defense and it's a wrap.

The defense is more important in my opinion his overall awareness on D as far as rotations and using his strength to even help against players in mass that DJ struggles with should but us in a great place. The jumper is there just needs to be more consistent which should show pretty fast if he is fixing his mechanics. Want Blake to take that step he can thrive in his second option role and dominate.

Defense is definitely the area where he has the most room for improvement. He needs to better use his body/strength and his feet along with the angles. He's been decent at moments, so I do believe there is potential for him to get better. I just don't like the matador defense.

He's not long, but neither is Chuck Hayes (I understand that there some bodily differences between them in regards to center of gravity and his length in proportion to his height). He may get a block here or there, but it's way more important to make the opponent work for whatever they get than the frivolous stats. I want to see him be able to wear his opponent down by the physical exertion that they have had to use on both sides of the ball when he is in the game.
