artest is getting old. though i still like his defense because he has some muscle. his 3pt shot is just too inconsistent last year.

I stopped reading. You didn't actually watch the games the final 1.5 months of the season did you? He was the best 3 pt shooter we had as the season was drawing to a lose, hitting almost 35-40% of his 3 pointers in the stretch before he was suspended. If you are going to use old data, I can point to his 3 pt% on the pacers as well. Fact is his latest 3pt% after he got into shape is the best indicator of what it will be this year, rather than old data.

I'm confident that either Ebanks or Clark will hold down the backup SF position well enough.

Not many teams have a great player at every position and the Lakers are no different.

If Ron can keep himself in shape, as he's indicated, I firmly believe we'll have a better starter at SF than most teams have and now that Ebanks is a year older I'm confident he'll be a solid contributer off the bench as well.

I really only have three concerns heading into this season.

A) How soon will Dwight be 100%?
B) Will Nash be able to play at or near the same level he was able to play last year without back issues.
C) Team chemistry. And while it shouldn't be an issues it's one of the few things, besides injuries, that could possibly prevent this team from reaching the NBA finals.

All Artest has to do is guard the opposing team's best perimeter player for the majority of a game and hit wide open shots. His shooting should be a little better with Nash. The Lakers can't be expect to be stacked at every position.

I'm actually excited to see Ron Ron play this year. Hopefully his back will stay healthy and he'll be able to play more like 09/10 Ron Ron. He's saying all the right things this offseason. We'll see if that translates to improved play.

If he can regain 09/10 form look out NBA.

I think people really underrate Artest' ability to score overall. His numbers shot up not only because he got healthy but due to being a real scoring option with Kobe out. Due to being a 4th or 5th option he is subjected to getting scrap points and wide open shots. Never was his game.

The small forward and shooting guard position or a very good swingman is absent. However, if the Laker management is considering Ebanks to fill the void and he does the Lakers have fulfilled the need but it could help the roster composition and give the team more versatility with the acquisition of another player with those skills and qualities that good swing players have. Adding balance to the offense, good defender and ballhandler, and can play the 2 or 3 position very well.
