MJD

Post#1 » by LApwnd » Mon Aug 27, 2012 5:43 pm

got him in the 3rd rd (4th overall), was it worth the risk? he is my #2 rb if things work out next to McCoy. After that all my rb are "sleeper" types, Helu, Ryan Williams, Jennings (in case mjd holds out long term  )

I think it will be, but not for 3-4 weeks until he gets back up to speed. Getting Williams was smart

Talks from his coach today that Jennings is the week 1 starter even if MJD comes back.

I'm not buying this too much and there's probably a lot of hidden message here, but I think it definitely denotes that we're looking at some sort of committee this year, as in even if things get completely worked out you're looking at MJD only getting around 250 carries and Jennings seeing around 140+.

hope he keeps holding out since I got Jennings in a late round

I also picked up Ryan Williams in case Wells gets hurt again

I dont even think Wells needs to get hurt, I just think Williams is a better back now and back in college days. If he hadn't gotten hurt last year I think he would've won the starting job.

Agreed. He's a sleeper that isn't getting his proper fanfare. I don't think he has huge upside for this year even in the lead role, but definitely solid RB2 value once/if he becomes the starter.

I feel the same way about Williams. Arizona drafted him because they thought he could take over for Wells, who's entirely underwhelming. I won't take him as a flex, but I'll definitely take him as a lottery ticket. By mid-season, he could prove that he's just the better back and be getting 2/3 of the touches. Starting calibre players don't usually come around that late.

I feel less confident about Jennings, but I'm definitely looking at drafting him and maybe trying to trade him to the MJD owner. I probably won't reach for a guy who's going start maybe 4 games, but he has to be on everyone's radar. MJD is now a risk as a 2nd round pick. Much rather roll the dice on a guy like McFadden (and handcuff him with Goodson in round 9 or 10).

You should be okay Shady is a beast as of right now I like Jennings to score more points than MJD but for wher you drafted him I guess it is a calculated risk. Ryan Williams wil prob end up as a solid RB2 by mid season.

Make no mistake, this is going to be a committee, with MJD likely to take over as the 60/40 share holder by week 3 or 4, with Jennings as the 70/30 guy weeks 1 and 2 and possibly 3.
