Lol, I like how Jonas has now overtaken Anthony Davis. I wonder if even a single non-Raptor fan voted for him. The bias is strong with this forum.

I personally think Jonas V is going to be a disappointment. He will struggle with fouls in the NBA like most European big men (and he is as prone to committing a foul as anyone). The athletic and speed adjustment will also cause him issues, taking him at least a year or two to get used to it. Finally, he will never be a top scorer in the NBA, and especially his rookie year, he will be mostly asked to show his defensive abilities with most of his scoring coming off of broken plays. Bargnani will get many more touches, along with DeRozen and Lowry, and I would imagine even Ross gets more shots.

Of course don't tell a Toronto fan I said all this - I will be getting hate mail for weeks!

also people, don't write off lamb and motiejunas. if the rockets manage to win above 35 games, i'd strongly consider them being part of the reason why, assuming they get acceptable stats.

How is that any different than what we should expect from Anthony Davis?

Davis had 2 fouls in 32 mintues.. (while averaging 4.7 blocks, this is an incredible ratio by the way)

Jonas had 3.2 fouls in 23.3 mintues...

Also, I think it is generally accepted that Davis is more athletic than Jonas, and playing on Kentucky, he is already used to NBA caliber athletes.

You're comparing Davis who played against kids vs JV playing against grown men who've been around awhile. I wouldn't be surprised if JV put up those kinds of numbers had he played in the NCAA. And just because he played for Kentucky, that doesn't mean he'll have a good transition into the NBA. He's still very weak and he's obviously going to go up against much more athletic bigs.

I see both JV and Davis going through similar problems their first year in the NBA.

That argument is irrelevant because Davis played against a bunch of college kids while Jonas played against men. Also Davis is too weak right now to make an impact in the NBA while Jonas has bulked up throughout the year. Davis's girlish hands don't help either.

Jonas V is still a stick man, give that man some meatloaf loaded with potatoes, carrots, peas and HGH. He was also the one that looked more like a girl in the Olympics in comparison to Davis. Between the 2 players it was easily Valaouncicascissds that was having trouble keeping up with the Olympic talent while Davis was shinning anytime he got playing time and sonning the scrubs who were matched up with him.

JV going up against starters while on a short leash vs Davis going up against scrubs in garbage time? If you watched him last year when he had a longer leash, he played amazing against players like Noah, Gasol brothers, Ibaka and Kaman.

Due to the rules that help perimeter players (many guys say playing PG is easier at the NBA level than NCAA) and the high usage they get, lots of PGs have been winning this award and been the rookies who stand out most. I'll go with Lillard or possibly Waiters (esp if Irving misses time) or Beal.

Barnes has almost no shot unless does very well in a 6th man role and Jackson keeps him there

Jonas V must be the newest most overrated player on RealGM. How is he ahead of Davis? This award is:

I hate making uneducated picks because I honestly didn't do my college b-ball homework last season and the only player I've seen for extended playing time in both the tournament and Olympics was Anthony Davis.

I think he's a strong choice because New Orleans suffered a miserable season last year and they have the pieces to make a significant improvement with the talent they've added. Davis is going to have a nice stat-line for his rookie season so I'm gonna go with him.

Davis. Think he'll average 13/10/2.5

LOL no one should take any RealGM poll seriously if it in anyway involves the Raptors. I doubt most Raptors fans think Val will be even close to being the ROY.
Looking for a new signature. Currently, still evaluating.
