You wonder if they rushed out the Bautista announcement to push Stroman out of the headlines.

Let's just get all this out of the system this year. Would it be too much to ask for karma to actually balance this out for the fans in the short-term? Don't like let my kid's pet turtle live longer or something obtuse that we won't even notice, I want a directly balanced equation where after suffering 3 years of injuries in one season we get 5 years of severely reduced injury amounts (doesn't have to go to zero). C'mon universe, get 'er done!

It seems as if the initial diagnosis with an injured Jay doesn't mean that much. Should send them right to the specialist, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Meh, i guess this was kinda of expected :-? Next week Morrow will be shutdown or Wilner will replace Ashby on the fan590 with the way things have gone for us this year.

Article from Lott

http://sports.nationalpost.com/2012/08/28/blue-jays-jose-bautista-to-undergo-season-ending-surgery/

“There’s just too much instability in that tendon,” Bautista said. “It got to the point where risking injuring the tendon was not worth it. So that’s why we’re opting to do it now. That way I have plenty of time to be ready for spring training and the season.”

Hand specialist Thomas Graham, who examined Bautista on Monday, will perform the surgery.

“The anatomy of the area that holds the tendon in place has been compromised,” Bautista said. “Luckily for me, the tendon is completely intact and healthy. He just needs to make it stable again. That way it stays in its place when I move my hand and twist and turn it and swing the bat.”
