Slava does lurk!
having a strong core made my game on the court a lot smoother. I run faster, jump higher, and my balance and stability are great. since I stopped boxing I haven't worked out my core seriously.
the one I posted is ghey. I think even a 5 year old can do it. will do a full body later and focus on deadlifts and Stephano's routine.

Re: Comm Thread: Military Coup
Tugs, if you are new to lifting forget the core and start with Mark Rippletoe's 5x5. This is sincerely my biggest regret when starting lifting weights. There's just no better program to begin with until you can bench your own body weight.

Re: Comm Thread: Military Coup
not working out your core is a good way to have back problems in the future.

Re: Comm Thread: Military Coup
Core is the secondary muscle group in quite a number of compound movements, the standing barbell press puts more pressure on the core than say 50 crunches would.

Re: Comm Thread: Military Coup
that's the 5 reps 5 sets right? I want to add mass Slav. iirc, 5x5 preaches lifting heavy weights in low reps to gain strength. or is the 10-12 reps 3 sets to add mass, 12+ reps for toning, heavy, low reps for strength just a myth?

but isn't it better if you also isolate the core and not rely completely on compound movements?

Women isolate the core because they don't have rhe testosterone to benefit from compound workouts, which is why you'll never see a guy on those workout posters.
