lol overraction much? i'll give stroman the benefit of the doubt, based simply on his personality, that this was a case of unknowingly ingesting supplements that contained a banned substance rather than him being a dirty syringe squirtin cheater.

yeah....let me know where he's buying these "supplements".
dude was guilty. there really is no legitimate excuse. can't even plead ignorance.

the difference is that MLB players are supposed to submit all supplements to MLB for testing.
its written out in black and white for them.

what the hell...where did i call him innocent? i just don't think he should be cut loose because of ignorance. i'm sure he's talented enough to still have the same upside without these supplements but hey, you're the TV star pharmacist so maybe i'm wrong on this and we should in fact let him go, because when he comes back from this suspension he will be worthless right?

brb gonna go make a thread called Spot Sensi for each time i've faintly appeared on a blue jays highlight clip, don't lock them please

I'd like to chalk this up to him being dumb and assuming if it's available over-the-counter then it's fine. Of all the substances to get caught with, this one seems like the least likely to help significantly. If you're gonna use a banned substance, might as well get your 50 games worth with the good stuff, i.e. whatever Bonds, McGwire, Giambi, his dad took

**** is like drinking coffee before a game. People on this board going crazy over stuff any serious athlete has done at least once in their life. They probably lived on stuff like this in the 1920s.

He has too miss 43 MINOR league games next season. So he cant come up with the Jays this season to burn up more games on the suspension.

Dude...DMAA was prominent in many consumer-grade pre-workout supplements like Jack3d until only recently. If anything all this shows is that he probably isn't very smart considering that he's given a list of MLB approved supplements and he obviously went off that list. However, to call this a "performance enhancer" is hilarious. Its a relatively mild focus/energy booster.

Stroman took a huge risk not getting the supplements certified and instead going for over-the-counter. Foolish risk and it cost him. Sucks, but rules are rules.

apparently, according to AA and others, if stroman was on the big league team then he would not have been suspended, but rather only given a warning. so for anyone blowing this out of proportion and ready to write off his career as a jay, tough luck, as it appears this was an example of the most minor of banned-substance related infractions a player could possibly commit.

not to defend such ignorance of course, but this would have been a total non-story if stroman was already with the jays.

from djf
“If Stroman had been on the 40-man roster, whether he was at the big league level or had been optioned down to the minor leagues, all he would have gotten was a warning,” Anthopoulos said, striking directly at the key reason this whole damn thing is a non-issue not worth of discussion for half a bloody radio hit. What might have been worth further exploration, however, was when he next explained that “We could have easily just said, ‘he’s getting a call-up in September,’ and this wouldn’t have been announced, he would have got a warning like, I’m sure, a lot of other players around the league have gotten– something like this. We didn’t feel it was the right thing to do. He’s in the minor leagues, and whether it was ignorance, negligence, that’s not an excuse, and unfortunately he has to pay the price for it. Though it wasn’t his intent, we weren’t going to certainly try to circumvent those things, and we’re going to stand by the program.”
