Are a bunch of our TEs seriously injured or something? Did I just miss it?

I thought that Finley was going to be back for week one, I thought DJ Williams was just a little banged up and that Crabs would be ready to go...?

Finley should be fine, although I haven't read any tweets today. As far as I recall he was heavily involved in practice yesterday. Crabtree is probably still out from the hit from Mays. Thought Taylor was banged up. Quarless still out. Though DJ Williams has been going strong judging from the ridiculous "TE CONTROVERSY BREWING IN GB" posts that have actually been posted at some fantasy sites. At the moment, Finley/Williams (each somewhat fragile in his own right) are the only TE's so TRAIN OF DEATH and other LB's have been taking reps at TE. Sounds like they have had some catches and more than a handful of pass-off-the-hands-and-intercepted.

I feel pretty good that our top 3 (finley, williams, crabby) will be good to go by week 1.

Yeah, I didn't really think TE was a concern either.

Lots of press on Boykin lately. I'd have to think Gurley still has the inside track on 6th WR (if the track exists at all), but if Boykin wins the spot, I'll be excited to see what he's got to show, too. He somewhat reminds me of Boldin, though obviously Boldin set the league on fire from day one and Boykin is not in that class.

Boykin has served himself well by remaining healthy and active throughout all of the camps, practices, and preseason games. Due to the combination of the backup oline and graham crackers struggles with accuracy, I don't think we've had even a glimpse of what the coaches/teammates must see of this kid everyday in practice. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't Boykin the guy Tramon singled out a few weeks back (granted I'm sure puff pieces are a dime a dozen and who would ever expect Tramon to say the 6-10th wr's suck). Given Borel's drops and injury issues, Boykin very well may have surpassed him. Gurley came close to getting a block in preseason action, but he may have been bitten too hard by the injury bug. Given how Ted continously speaks of keeping the best players, I think there is a decent shot at this team keeping 6wrs, but, given how much we all loved Borel/Gurely (and given history of guys like Swain, Chastin West, Ruvel Martin, and the new guys who look promising in Boykin and Dale Moss), I don't think TT would be all that worried about being able to replace these guys.

I expect Starks on PUP now that Saine is back.

Not sure how bad Francois' injury is. He might be a PUP candidate which allows Manning to stick a bit longer and show something. IF he finally impresses some then Francois is cut or IR.

Unless an OLB gets hurt, SoOto looks like a goner.

Agree about Gurley - its his size that would give GB something they don't have now. Plus he plays STs. Boykin has to have a very good game to surpass. Wouldn't be surprised we just keep 5 WRs and neither make it. Although still possible Pack may trade Jones if they can get a 4th or better. Unlikely tho as he's got good talent, great attitude & super contract for Pack

You can't go on the PUP list if you practice at all in training camp/preseason.

duh! of course your right
then Starks could very well get cut OR they keep 5 RBs and just 5 WRs or 8 OL.
I'd prefer Francois over Manning if his injury isn't too severe.

I'd prefer starting Francois over Hawk and see if he could be an upgrade.

Boykins hands are abnormally large and catches everything. His routes are also very crisp. He is probably a practice squad guy here still. Gurley should be the top #6 WR because he would immediately be the 2nd or 3rd best Special Teamer and not for just his punt or FG blocking.

I didn't realize he was so big until I looked him up after reading this post. He's not fast, but he moves like a guy who is more like 6 feet, 200 than 6-2, 220.

I also assumed he was smallish because his name is Jarrett Boykin. How big can a guy be with a name like that?

This is a great highlight vid of Boykin, IMO.

Lots of good catches by Boykin on this reel (he's #81).

Just remembered the last preseason game is tonight. Do we have any idea of how is playing and who isn't? I'm assuming Rodgers won't. Harrell will probably get a ton of work.

I thought I read that Tramon and Chuck are both sitting. I don't think I'd play anybody who isn't in competition for a spot, either for playing time or for the roster. Except for Finley, unless the coaches think he's ready.
