If the Packers put Bishop (or anyone) on IR they can reactive them during the season, but only one player. The trade deadline has also been pushed back. Finally.

Although I like the spirit of the rule, it is really stupid in practice. In essence, say Gurley was our 53rd player. We would have to cut him on the last day to keep bishop, put Bishop on the IR the next day, and then hope that Gurley was not claimed by anyone else so that we could then try and resign him to a new deal.

Good in principle, idiotic in construction...

hadn't seen that DB, never understood why the trade deadline was set for week 6, particularly with examples like Houston where injuries to one position can derail a team. Anyone see when the deadline is now set for?

finally, listened to the Dunne/McGinn podcast on my cruise into work. Sad times - Dunne reports that House cannot as of yet lift his arm above his head. We knew about House needing to play in a sling before, but I find this news discouraging. Both guys seemed adamant Bush was starting at CB, McMillian at S, and likely Shields in dime with Heyward still battling everyone for PT. Reiterated that House would have been the starter if not for the injury.

Either Bush will develop and deserve starting job OR Shields or Hayward will surpass Bush by week 4.

We kind of got screwed by them backtracking on the rule anyway, such that even the convoluted scenario you described wouldn't have been an option for us, since we put him on the IR to get down to 75. Unless they were just planning on IRing him regardless.

They did say the rule will grandfather in players like Bishop.

"@adbrandt: From the NFL regarding new IR rule: teams can return one player placed on IR to their 53-player active list by tomorrow. Seems fair."

I wonder what our overall team rank will be? I don't think we have very many old back-up guys.

It's 19th oldest counting all 22 starters. If you go to the bench, I'm guessing overall it's around 25 or so.

This has to be the first time in the TT era that we aren't top 5 in youngest teams in the NFL.

You guys, I'm nervous about so many ESPN guys picking us to win the division and the Owl.

Haven't played it yet, but this Madden gameplay featuring the Packers looks interesting.

Rumor has it that Miami is going after James Jones.
