Ward vs Dawson - Sept 8

Post#1 » by cowboyronnie » Wed Aug 29, 2012 1:45 am

Pretty great superfight. And HBO's doing the full 24/7, having let Showtime do a chunk of the work (ouch).

Stoked. Hope it's better than the last clash of this order, two guys with B names in a head-to-head: Alexander vs Bradley.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

If you're a die hard boxing fan, you love this fight. Due to their styles I don't think it will be an exciting fight, but it's still a match up between two guys top guys in their respective divisions. That being said, this fight has no business being on PPV. I don't think it will sell well because people don't even know who these two guys are. I saw the first episode of 24/7 and tuned off halfway. Both fighters are good guys with nice background stories, but neither has the charisma, fan base, or personality to draw the casual fan in.

Chavez and Martinez however is a different story. Chavez has a huge following and there's a history of trash talking and animosity between the two fighters. It's much more compelling fight and should a crowd pleasing as well. I'm actually looking forward to their 24/7.

It's not a PPV fight, it's on HBO.

That's strange. This is the first fight that HBO did a 24/7 for that wasn't a PPV fight.

I am pretty eh about the fight... both have styles that aren't TV friendly.

They did away with the countdown shows and now everything is a 24/7 show.

Ward's hit-or-miss with his style(s). He's had a few beautiful performances, a lot of not so beautiful.

Like I said, due to their styles I highly doubt it will be an exciting fight. Neither fighter has a fan friendly fighting style.

Complete snooze fest. I just don't find Ward's or Dawson's personal stories all that intriguing.

Irish Andre Ward will box the brakes off of Dawson

reminds me of when Mayweather beat ish out of Diego Corrales. Not only outboxed another great fighter but just absolutely beat the living crap out of him.

No mas.

Ward dominated tonight. Extremely impressive performance. He deserves to have his name in the pound for pound discussion with Pac and Mayweather.

Want to know how dominating Ward was tonight?

Ward landed 155 of 418 punches. Dawson landed 29 of 187.

He's completely outclassed Dawson, Froch Abraham and Kessler. There's almost nobody left for him to fight after Bute got destroyed, this guy's prime is gonna be like RJJ's/Klit Bro's where he just completely wipes out any challengers

It has been a long while since we seen two fighter at the very top of the sport fight each other, and one guy just goes unholy on him.

Dawson is no scrub, or contender, he is the MAN at 175... and he looked worse than Sakio Bika out there. Ward has gotten so much better since the SuperSix. I honestly thought that Dirrel was the better talent between both of the fighters.

There is the Martinez/Chavez winner, and Govlikin.

Martinez will never fight Ward. He feels that he's too small to physically match up against super middle weights.

Chavez Jr. would get destroyed.

I have to see more from Golovkin before I can assess a fight with Ward.

Impressive performance by Ward. If Ward was truly a finisher, that fight doesn't go past the 4th but it was nice to see him get the stoppage because he deserved it with that beat down.
