Disagree again. IMO theres the two you mentioned in tier 1. Tier 2 is Thibs, Carlisle, Karl, Brooks, Vogel, and Collins. Then theres tier 3 with Stan Van, Hollins and some other guys. Then there is tier 4 which we are about to get into. This is the biggest dropoff from most tiers. Tier 1 to 2 is also a big dropoff.

I don't want to sound ignorant or non informative, but what make a coach elite? Cause just a few years ago Doc's head was on the chopping block until they decided to give him one more year. So do you need elite players to become an elite coach?

(I have my own answer to this question, just curious to hear your opinion).

Player managment, great teacher, great systems offensively and defensively.

Doc was always a good player manager and teacher. Just had bad talent. Some of those guys do get fired, due to the talent.

Disagree. Thibs, Karl, Brooks, vogel, stan and hollins are in the same tier. Then after that I could add 5 young coaches that are not far off.

Thibs was coach of the year 2 years ago, Vogel was 3rd in coach of the year voting and took an average talented team to 3rd in playoff seedings and doing well in the playoffs. Brooks has developed the talent very nicely in OKC and just reached a final. Karl has proven hes a good teacher and its the only reason he is higher. I think the other guys (Hollins, Adelman, Stan Van, some other guys already picked) are close, but then there is a BIG dropoff, either in ability or in track record.

Track record can be fools gold because there are some good coaches who have little to no talent to coach.

I agree. Some coaches are just tag alongs. Thats why its a combination of both. Obviously you need ability, but you also need some success (improvement in record, development of players, etc).

 Plus we've never had a freeze period in any of the other previous 7 BATs, no reason to start having one now IMO.

That's a nice pick on Evans. Really was surprised that he lasted this long.

SG- Avery Bradley l Jason Richardson
SF- Caron Butler l Hedo Turkoglu
PF- Zach Randolph l Ivan Johnson
C- Bismack Biyombo l Boris Diaw

Just a very quick general writeup.

Very solid team except for one caveat that I'll mention later on. I like the defensive pairings you added to your 1-2 punch in Rose/Randolph with Bradley(who also acts as secondary ball handler) and Biyombo, takes less pressure off your scorers on the defensive end. Butler had a bad last year but if he can get back to form can be a solid glue guy/3rd option in your starting lineup. Turkoglu is nice off the bench and can act as the point forward when Rose is resting and share the duties with Bradley. Boris Diaw gives you that versatility as the big man off the bench who can play multiple spots. Ivan adds that toughness and becomes the enforcer to the team. Jason Richardson is a solid vet and shooter off the bench.

Two problems I see with your team. First is the lack of size in the frontcourt. I can see you having alot of problems defensively with larger opposing frontlines. Second and probably more importantly is while you have a nice offensive one-two punch in Rose/Randolph, both are coming off some serious injuries. Rose most likely won't be 100% next season and while Randolph did return in last season's playoffs, he did not look like his normal self at all. The injuries/recoveries will be a big question mark on how your team performs.
