Wouldn't be surprised. Joe Philbin is well aware of the type of talent Jones is and how reasonable his deal is. They also don't have any WRs.

Thompson loves to keep undrafted players around. He can do that again this summer with Boykin, Richardson and Moses. All three separated themselves in camp and performed on game day. No major training camp snubs here. There aren't too many gut-wrenching decisions. Manning is one big question mark. There's a reason the coaches gave him a long, long look last night. The N.C. State rookie certainly showed enough to stick around on the practice squad, but the Packers can get by without him on the 53. Keep an eye on the waiver wire. A surprising cut at quarterback could give Thompson pause. But with two-plus years invested in Harrell -- especially after last night's performance -- he's safe. Be sure to play the role of Thompson in the comments section below and predict your 53.

It'd be amazing if three undrafted rookies make a team that went 15-1 last season.

edit: Four!

Our scouts are amazing and WR seem to want to come here, even with the depth we have. Keep stocking em up.

I forget the names after Ruvell Martin and Chastin West (although Martin was on the active squad for awhile), but I saw a list yesterday that had at least four former Packer practice squad (within the last few years) WR's that had stuck with an NFL roster. I think guys are recognizing that this can be a launch pad for their careers even if they don't make it on GB's roster. Also, remember Lombardi saying only really GB, NE, and maybe 1 or 2 other teams pay so much attention to the training and development of the guys that are on the low end of the totem pole. When you run your team the right way, no surprise that good things happen.

It's amazing that more teams don't run their programs like GB, NE and Pittsburgh.

Those three teams have had sustained success for such a long time now, you'd think other teams would catch on.

Wes Hodkiewicz ‏@WesHod
The #Packers released center Sampson Genus earlier this morning, per a source

Not unexpected. Sounds like Richardson earned his roster spot last night over Levine. Good on him.

Over at Grantland Barnwell did a Simmons style trade value column. Nelson and Woodson were a honorable mentions, Raji was 47th, Matthews was 10th and some guy named Rodgers was the clear #1.

RT @zachkruse2: My source has also said that the Packers have cut WR Diondre Borel. Both offseason darlings are gone.

Brian Carriveau ‏@BrianCarriveau
RT @RavensInsider: Packers cut Nick Cooper

Still waiting on Boykin. If he's cut, safe to say James Jones will not be traded to MIA.

So: Levine, Genus, Gurley, Borel, Draheim, Datko, Cooper so far?

Interesting that they've cut Datko AND Wells. Barclay and Allard showed enough or is a trade coming?

You mean your surprised teams don't just go out and get HOF QBs?

Yes...

Teams cannot develop other talent on their roster because they don't have a great QB. Thank you for your insight.
