Should Phil get a Statue??

Post#1 » by dub81 » Sun Sep 2, 2012 1:11 am

Since we don't have any coaches statues up there, Phil help us bring 5 titles to LA and he's the winningest coach in nba history. Should he have a statue at the staples center????

If Phil does then Pat Riley probably does as well. Although IMO Phil is held a little bit higher because he did it with two different cores. Pretty much Kobe and Shaq, then Kobe.

I think Chicago has more of a right to put up a statue for Phil. He did win 6 rings there compared to the 5 in LA.

I don't think we need to over play the statue thing, they've already cluttered the front of Staples. There's one side they haven't even touched, the statues should've been spread out better than they were.

They should've opted to use just head busts of the most meaningful Lakers, and placed them along the perimeter of the building.

Just put his chair out there.

There should only be 2 more statues. KAJ and Kobe eventually.

Yea, no statue. If anything, he'd get his name up in the rafters ala Chick Hearn

You say this now but what if Dwight somehow pulls off a miracle and helps lead the Lakers to four more championships? At that point he'd be worthy of one also. Speaking of Worthy... lol j/k

Yeah the front of Staples is getting a bit cluttered with statues. Thankfully! :D

If there was gonna be a Forest of statues built to honor a team, the Lakers certainly qualify.
