5.5 before the dbags series would have been huge, now they play the padres and we play the dbags

The bullpen was lights out on this road trip.

I'm not even worrying about the dodgers because it's nothing they can do to slow us down from winning 90 to 92 games which will clinch the west.

BTW just going 14-14 over the final 28 games would give us 90 wins and we play all NL west teams the rest of the way.

Well, we are 4.5 games up and still have 6 head to head games left with the Dodgers, so I don't understand how you can say there is "nothing they can do". Certainly the Giants have the upper hand, but it's not impossible for the Dodgers to edge us out if they play us well, say take 5 out of 6. I don't think that's a crazy scenario as each of our starting pitchers have struggled at times, the offense can be shut down, and the bullpen is shaky (generally good, but they have their moments). Again, I think the Giants will prevail, but it's far from a done deal at this point.

I don't think 90 games will win the West, or even make the playoffs, imo.

The Dodgers have to go 18-9 to finish the season with 90 wins. They've still got 16 games left against us, the Cards, Nats, and Reds. We only have to go .500 -- and only against division teams -- to get to 90. If we continue to play .567 ball for the rest of the season, we should clinch even before the last series of the season in LA. Still a lot of games to be played though, don't want to get too ahead of ourselves.

Also Timmy has a 3.26 ERA since the All-Star break. That's right in line with his career average of 3.27 (including this disaster of a season though)

The Dodgers would have to finish 18-9 just to get to 90 wins and hope we finish worse than 14-14. It's a great chance 90 games wins the west.

All true, BUT it's those 6 head to head games that are critical, if they happen to get hot in those games, all bets are off. And anything can happen in 6 games.

Like Bochum said, all you gotta do is win one series at a time.

Odds of us finishing worse than 14-14 are slim and none. The division is pretty much ours.

The way our starting pitching has been playing, you never know. 6 big games against the Dodgers; but if the Dodgers somehow pull it off and get the West, they deserve it. They have a much tougher schedule left than we do.
