Is this meant to be an accurate report, meaning, instead of GarPax and an agent negotiating, it's JR and Thibs?

I think it's possible, I think JR did with Skiles (not positive) negotiated, although he had an issue with Skiles' agent also, and they would probably just say 'the Bulls and Thibs are talking' if it was generic?

I hope Jerry isn't trying to low ball Thibs.

Of course they are. Much like the other spin, the drama regarding this is media made. The league essentially shuts down in August so all talks suspended so everyone could take their vacations and trips and now things pick back up after Labor Day.

Deal is done before season tips.

That's what I'm fearing. Watch him go in and lower the offer.

Reinsdorf said he doesn't like to negotiate with coach's agents during the Skiles affair, if I find a link from back then, I'll post it in here.

This has always been the case as far back as I remember

The GM interviews to recommend but JR discusses salary alone with the coach.

In this case, there is no need for GM to get involved.

Remember D'Antoni? Paxson recommended him but JR didnt want to pay him. JR preferred the cheaper Vinny Del Negro

This is Rein$dorf we're talking about, he's going to at least attempt one lowball offer, he can't help himself.

Done before season starts. Guaranteed.

Media and obnoxious fans better start thinking of what's the next story they want to ridiculously over dramatize.

JR also did it with Deng if I remember correctly.

no, JR does not negotiate direct with players - only the coach

JR made an exception for MJ because MJ could not stand Krause and didnt trust him.

JR would have given approval on Deng but didnt carry out the actual negotiations

Correct, normally JR doesn't negotiate with players, but he did with Deng for some reason. I remember reading few articles about it. I'll see if I can find any and will post a link.
