The problem going 5 wide in the hurry up is that if you need 10+ yards and you have nobody to pick up the blitz you have to throw it up like that.

That sucks. At least it's not college football and there are plenty of meaningful games to go. Also, is it really an upset when a team from the NFC title game wins?

Hopefully this serves as a wake up call for these guys.

I think the team pretty clearly woke up in the 4th quarter. They were playing a different brand of football. The defense looked intense and angry. It is really disappointing that our drive was effectively killed by Brooks pulling Rodgers down by his facemask.

Hopefully something to build on.

I have to say that running Cobb as a flanker completely changed how the 49ers had to defend us. We were stagnant any time we brought Kuhn into the game, but Cobb played a similar role to Darren Sproles and really opened the game for us.

I don't think it's time to push the panic button yet, San Fran has the best D in the league. A lot can change over the course of a season.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure if he can be used on draws and running plays in the same way a guy like Sproles can (without getting killed) which limits the versatility of that personnel set. Plus, as someone else pointed out, you can't exactly keep him in as an extra blocker when we read blitz, which is what we needed on that last play.

Being a former QB, he can throw the ball much better than Sproles can though. McCarthy needs to exploit that.
