From looking at the 3D-seating chart that's by design...

http://www.seats3d.com/nba/barclays_center/#/level_2/

Interesting as I never noticed that before.

Yeah, I don't get that either. Seems that side has lot's of 'holes'. I know the top is for the street view, but the placement of this lower one just don't make sense. For one thing, it gonna make distracting the free throw shooter on that side harder (hehe). That side should also be less loud considering the lack of seats compared to the other side.

That "hole" is entrance to the home/visiting locker rooms.

Speaking of the locker rooms:

I forgot about the behind the basket entrances. I saw these a few months ago and while it doesn't really bother me, it'll be interesting to see if D-Will complains about bad sightlines again lol.

Yeah, it makes it easier to move things in and out of the stadium but it doesn't look good.

For some reason, this stadium reminds me of European stadiums. (I love the all black seats.)

thinking "the hole" could act similarly to the blackout wall behind the pitcher in baseball... keeping the space open from distractions to foul shooters. however it kind of sucks bc when the away team is shooting there wont be fans going crazy behind the hoop trying to distract them

The court actually rotates to ensure the Nets always get the unobstructed view.

The box lighting might not look good if the wood is actually that dark. Which is my only gripe unless they polish it better.

Can they switch from theatre box to regular lighting easily?

When we do blackouts the theatre lighting will be awesome, but when he do whiteouts, I think we should have regular lighting.
