FFRL - Congrats to the Champ: jazzfan!

Post#1 » by floppymoose » Fri Aug 3, 2012 10:56 pm

I'd like to get a roto fantasy nba league going, with somewhere between 12 and 20 managers. This will be a slow draft, non-keeper league, 8 categories (the usual 9 minus turnovers).

First step is to measure interest. So pipe up if you'd like to play. Preference will be given to the members of FFL, FFDL, and the Money League, because I've played with them before. Next tier will be those that are recommended by the same. If more managers are needed, we'll fill it out in some totally undemocratic way, so get those head shots ready!

I'm targeting the slow draft to begin sometime around the beginning of September.

Sign me up.

One question though...Why no TO? I'm sure you have a good reason, so I'm interested in your explanation.

Purity of essence.

Well you would be wrong then, wouldn't you? ;-)

More seriously, though, I feel like the main purpose of turnovers in 9cat head to head is to serve as a tiebreaker when things are otherwise 4-4. In roto you don't have weekly matchups, so tiebreakers are unneeded. Given that, I like to just have all positive stats, rather than 8 positive and one negative.

The league is happening. I'm just not in as big a hurry to start the draft as FFL is, so we have a little more time to form the league. I'll send out invites to those who have responded here, and then I'll open up invites to a larger audience.

I won't start the invite process until yahoo launches their basketball fantasy game this season.

I'd not be opposed to a live draft either.

I will be sending out invites to everone above to join the league within the next 24 hours. I'll also invite the FFL and FFDL participants (I think the money league participants are already covered by those other two). If you want to make sure I have your email correct for the invite, you can PM it to me (that way it won't be posted for the spam bots to get it).

Then we'll see where we stand in a few days on participation, and I'll set up a draft. I'm thinking a slow draft rather than a live draft at the moment, but that isn't a final decision. I might have a special surprise for you depending on how things go at work.

I like the slow draft option. Too hard to find a time we can all log on and draft. Plus I don't have a 3-4 hour slot I can devote anyway.

I strongly prefer a live draft. The FFL draft is quite time and energy consuming as it is.

I have created the league and sent out invites. I forgot to include the league id or password in the invite - I think it gets added automatically. If it didn't, let me know.

Also, I create the invite emails by pulling them out of the 2012 FFL and FFDL leagues. But not everyone has signed up for those yet so you might not have been in them, in which case I didn't just send you an invite. So if you wanted an invite and didn't get one, PM me an email to use and I'll send you an invite.
