It happened when the browns went to the Baltimore ravens, 2-3 years later Cleveland regained the browns and rejoined the league, their history is still up throughout the stadium and in the archives, should be similar assuming they retain the supersonics name, different name should be different history, Houston oilers and Houston texans

Pretty sure

okay that's good, thanks for clearing that up... i hope they get a team again... one of my favorite teams to watch growing up were the Sonics... i hope they keep the history, as they should.

Yeah man, besides the Magic the Sonics were my favorite team in the west in the 90's.

Coach Karl, Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, Hersey Hawkins, Detlef Schrempf, Sam Perkins, Nate McMillan, David Wingate, and good ol' Jim Mcilvane..

IIRC, Supersonics' name belongs to Seattle, so they will keep the name, but i dont think the records will be kept, it was shipped along Thunder, IMO.

As for the Supersonics, me too, in 95/96 i rooted for two teams, Orlando in the East and Sonics in the West, but then i just keep rooting for the Magic. That Supersonics team was great with Kemp, Payton and my idol, Detlef, because even being brazilian i have german roots and my best play was shot for 3 :)

I used to play NBA Jam with Magic and Sonics! Yeah! He is on fireeeeee!

Ha, it's interesting that a few of us here were Magic and Sonics fans. My mates were all Sonics fans, so they became my 2nd favourite team by default. We took our turns gloating when the Magic made the finals and then a couple years later when the Sonics made it. Trading Kemp for Baker was the beginning of the end for those guys.

Magic trade: JJ Redick, Al Harrington, Josh McRoberts
Mavericks trade: Rodrigue Beaubois, 2013 1st Rd Pick, Shawn Marion, Vince Carter, Dominique Jones
Magic release: Vince Carter, Dominique Jones, Justin Harper

Magic gain 1st Round Pick, a young, talented and inexpensive PG in Beaubois, and turn Harrington's contract into Marion's 2 year deal--which expires at the same time as Turkoglu, Carter, Q, and Jones (an estimated 26 million in relief). Mavs get the clutch shooter they are sorely lacking with Terry's departure and a guy they can likely re-sign in Redick, turn Marion's 8.5m contract into Harrington's more tradeable 6.9 with a slight bump in talent, and get quality size off of the bench in McRoberts, all while dumping 9 million in contracts in VC and DoJo.

C: Glen Davis, Nikola Vucevic, Kyle O'Quinn
PF: Shawn Marion, Andrew Nicholson, Gustavo Ayon
SF: Hedo Turkoglu, Moe Harkless, Quentin Richardson
SG: Aaron Afflalo, E'Twaun Moore, Christian Eyenga
PG: Jameer Nelson, Rodrigue Beaubois, Ish Smith

Two years from now, our only financial commitments:
C: Nikola Vucevic, Gustavo Ayon (expiring)
PF: Glen Davis (expiring), Andrew Nicholson
SF: Moe Harkless
SG: Arron Afflalo (expiring),
PG: Jameer Nelson (expiring), Rodrigue Beaubois (if re-signed)
+ 2013 Orlando 1st, 2013 Dallas 1st, 2014 Orlando 1st

Marion is also a perfect candidate to be shut down for the season, at almost 35 years old with a variety of chronic issues. This would aid both in player development and in short term tanking. He also might be more amenable to a favorable buyout at the twilight of his career.

C: Nikola Vucevic, Gustavo Ayon, Kyle O'Quinn
PF: Glen Davis, Andrew Nicholson, (Ayon)

I love that frontcourt from both a player development and a tanking viewpoint.

Nelson #102
Redick #115

These numbers clearly place Nelson and Redick as perceived starters.

What I found interesting is that these media-scouts rank Nelson over fellow PGs: Stuckey, Chalmers, Harris, Teague, Billups, and Crawford. I would guess that most Magic fans would be willing to trade Nelson straight up for any of these six. And it shows, again, why fans would make horrible GMs. The media see Nelson's skills and he continues to have a very good contract relative to his skills, in my opinion.

As for Jonathan Clay, I cannot see him in Orlando's future. As a bench player with perceived starters skills, he will be shopped. The Bulls continue to make a great deal of sense.

nelson and Harris are a wash, chalmers is a wash because he isn't any better of a passer or scorer. Stuckey has hit his ceiling imo, billups I wouldn't trade for because he's old and crawfords a sg. Id trade him for Teague. Jameer is rated right where he should be.

I have a hard time seeing jj here as well. Hopefully a package deal will land us more picks maybe young talent..

So is Afflalo the only Magician left to be ranked?

Stuckey is a SG now anyways. He is a consistent 16-20ppg scorer and is 6'5" while playing decent defense. But, I would probably still take Nelson with a close game in the 4th quarter.

Nelson is ranked where he should be. And, he is probably better than all those mentioned by dsrd with Stuckey being the closest. I don't think he hit his ceiling yet, but this is his season to prove that.

ESPN will have Bill Simmons and Stan Van Gundy replace Chris Broussard and Jon Barry on their NBA studio show, according to SportsByBrooks.

Michael Wilbon and Magic Johnson were also part of the team last season, as ESPN didn't have a traditional host.

ESPN has not confirmed the report.
