Cool offer but Neal is my bench lead dawg in the backcourt. I kinda like Fredette. Any other way I can get him?

Nah..only way I give him up is for Neal. If you change your mind let me know. Had Neal on my radar all along.

What's the deal with Samardo? I see him on the waived list, but also on the Hornets.

What do people think of Baron Davis on my team? I realize he wont play this year and possible his career could be done (although he said he is lookin to make a comeback) But i drafted him purely as a mentor for Isiah Thomas.

I think Baron would be a great mentor to him and could help him develop a bit. He would basically have an Assistant coach kinda role on my team while he is in a suit. Got him with my 15th pick. I wasnt going to take a 15th person for cap reasons, but felt that Diddy could be great for isiah and could end up making a comeback.

Knicks BAT 8 Judging

My rankings are done holistically.
I am simply choosing which franchise id want in order for winning now and the future.
I realize these rankings are unofficial
I haven’t factored in the last few FA pickups, but skimming them I can tell they wouldn’t make a difference.
I decided not to factor in any listed team rotations. I decided to assume that rotations would be done like a normal NBA team.
I didn’t take the time to completely add up team salaries so I estimated future cap flexibility. My estimates should basically be correct.
My comments are not that well organized.
Feel free to make comments in the discussion thread and I’d be glad to answer any questions.
Team market doesn’t impact my rankings since they were assigned randomly and otherwise just simply being the Lakers would be an advantage

Tier 1 Top Win now contenders
1. Indiana Pacers
Indiana Pacers - Mike Brown (HC)
C: Roy Hibbert - Jason Thompson /
PF: Pau Gasol - DJ White /
SF: Dorell Wright - Ron Artest
SG: Thabo Sefolosha - Manu Ginobili -Willie Green
PG: Steve Nash - Sebastian Telfair - Jimmer Fredette
• Great win now team
• Short window b/c of Nash and Ginobili
• Team fits well together
• good depth, but one more backup big would be nice
• really good passing
• I would bet this team wins it all next season
2. Charlotte Bobcats
HC: Doc Rivers
PG: Rajon Rondo / JJ Barea / Kendall Marshall
SG: Tony Allen / John Jenkins / Nando De Colo
SF: Danny Granger / Jimmy Butler
PF: Paul Millsap / Ed Davis / Jason Maxiell / Dante Cunningham
C: Anderson Varejao / Larry Sanders
• If Millsap can improve in transition this team will be scary
• Amazing defensive backcourt
• Bench is young and an unproven, but I would guess Jenkins and Butler can contribute immediately
• Really counting a lot on Jenkins to hit open shots
• Outside shooting of starters is weak besides Granger, which may make this team a bad fit for Rondo
• I expect Doc to bring the best out of this team
• Long window

3. Utah Jazz
PG: Chris Paul/Gary Neal/Ish Smith
SG: Gordon Hayward/Courtney Lee / Cartier Martin
SF: Mike Dunleavy/Omri Casspi
PF: Kevin Love/Darrell Arthur/Jan Vesely
C: Tiago Splitter/Greg Stiemsma/Nazr Mohammed
Coach: Dave Joerger
• I admittedly know nothing about Dave Joerger. Taking a chance on a rookie HC is a risk.
• Best BAT duo since Lebron and Dwight
• Somewhat long window
• Great shooting
• Team fits together really well
• Kind of weak at C
• Good depth
4. Milwaukee Bucks
PG: M. Conley/Jamaal Tinsley/Reggie Jackson
SG: G. Green/B. Roy/W. Barton
SF: Kevin Durant/V. Carter//M. Pietrus
PF: Carlos Boozer/H. Warrick/John Henson/
C: Marcus Camby/K. Seraphin/Sean Williams
HC Larry Drew
• Really good fits
• Long window to wn
• Don’t like the larry drew pick
• I don’t like the idea of taking the risk on Brandon Roy’s health because your team really needs him

5. Minnesota Timberwolves
HC: M.Budenholzer
PG: Mario Chalmers |Jason Kidd | John Lucas III
SG: James Harden| Jodie Meeks
SF: Paul Pierce| Kyle Korver | Marquis Daniels
PF: Kenneth Faried | Lavoy Allen
C: Kevin Garnett | Samuel Dalembert
• Definitely one of the top title contenders. I actually think they have the 3rd best odds of winning next year after Indiana and Charlotte
• Team fits really well together
• Point guard spot is a little weak, but I’m okay with Harden doing most of the ball handling and Kidd when he’s out
• Really good outside shooting
• Solid depth
• Very good defense
• Going with a rookie head coach is a big risk for a contender. I’ve only heard good things about Budenholzer and he did a good job filling in for 2 games last year, but I would prefer someone with head coaching experience
• Very short window because of KG. Without him this team’s not a contender

Tier 2 Top Win Future Teams and Long Shot Contenders
6. Golden State Warriors
PG: Jose Calderon~D. Lillard~A. Shved
SG: Bradley Beal~C. Budinger/ Doron Lamb
SF: Chandler Parsons~R. Jefferson
PF: Anthony Davis~Tr. Thompson~A. Moultrie
C: Omer Asik~J. Valanciunas~M. Leonard / Joel Freeland
HC: Frank Vogel
• Lots of high ceiling talent in Davis, Valanciunas, Leonard, Beal, Lillard
• Lots of cap flexibility, although I wouldn’t have drafted Jefferson and even Asik because their contracts will be moderately hard to trade
• Should be in position to get more high picks and has a long window to sign top free agents

7. Philadelphia 76ers
Kyrie Irving/Rodrigue Beaubois / Will Bynum
Evan Turner/Shannon Brown/Martell Webster
Paul George/Terrence Jones
Derrick Favors/Nick Collison / Marcus Morris
Tyler Zeller/Gustavo Ayon/Kosta Koufus
Coach: Kevin McHale
• 3 guys with absolutely huge potential in Kyrie, Paul George and Favors
• lots of cap flexibility
• team fits well together
8. Denver Nuggets
Head Coach: Paul Westphal
PG: Kyle Lowry| K Hinrich
SG: DeMar DeRozan| JR Smith | R Williams
SF: Carmelo Anthony| JR Smith W Johnson
PF: Josh Smith| A Tolliver
Cc: Emeka Okafor| J O'neal| M Okur
Inactive: G Oden AJ Price
• Really talented but bad fits and weak depth. If the depth was better this team would be higher up.
• Not enough outside shooting
• Great front court D
• Only 7 good rotation players
• If Melo is essentially the backup 4 than you’re weak at backup 3/5
• Dropped in the rankings 2 spots after the Westbrook trade. While your team fits together a little better now, I think your team actually had a better shot riding on the fact that it was the most talented

9. Phoenix Suns
HC: Scott Skiles
PG: Jameer Nelson/C.J. Watson
SG: Marshon Brooks/Alec Burks/Tracy McGrady
SF: LeBron James/Tracy McGrady/Josh Howard
PF: Brandon Bass/Tyler Hansborough/Troy Murphy
C: Marc Gasol/Ronny Turiaf/Troy Murphy
• Interesting choice for coach, but I suppose Skiles will improve the D
• Team fits well together
• Bench is decent
• Lebron and Gasol should be enough to make this a good defensive team
• Relying on one of Brooks or Burks to develop to become a contender
10. Dallas Mavericks
HC: Brian Shaw
C : Al Horford / Ian Mahinmi /Kwame Brown
PF: Dirk Nowitzki / Trevor Booker
SF: Joe Johnson/ Carlos Delfino / Josh Childress
SG: Richard Hamilton / Ben Gordon / Toney Douglas
PG: Raymond Felton / Beno Udrih / Lester Hudson
• Players fit well together besides maybe Felton
• Rookie head coach is a risk for a contender
• Good depth
• Dirk declined just enough this year that I’m not too confident about this team winning it all
• Felton and Hamilton are big question marks. I expect them both to have better years than last year, but I’m not sure how much better they’ll be. If they can bounce back big this team is a top contender
• Great outside shooting

11. Portland Trailblazers
HC: Byron Scott
PG: Jeremy Lin - Derek Fisher - Shelvin Mack
SG: OJ Mayo - Jason Terry
SF: Nicholas Batum - Danny Green
PF: Blake Griffin - Drew Gooden - Josh McRoberts
C: Joakim Noah - Darko Milicic - Sheldon Williams
• Young and very talented but committed to this long term core
• I think this team fits very well together
• Has a good 8 man rotation but any injury could hurt this team. Although, they could presumably use MLE’s and draft picksin future to have enough depth by the time they’re ready to contend
• Really dependent on Lin
• I’m optimistic this team will be one of the contenders in the future, but I’m not confident enough to proclaim this core will win it all
12. Cleveland Cavaliers
C - Greg Monroe/Markieff Morris/Cole Aldrich
PF - Taj Gibson/JJ Hickson/JaJuan Johnson
SF - Danilo Gallinari/James Johnson / Q. Pondexter
SG - Klay Thompson/Mike Miller/Dahntay Jones
PG - Ty Lawson/Ramon Sessions/Tyshawn Taylor
Coach: George Karl
• Assuming Lawson gets 12ish million and Gibson gets 7-8 million your team really doesn’t have much cap flexibility next year
• Taking on Mike Miller contract was not smart
• Monroe is the only guy I see as a future all star, but the other starters could all be border line all stars
• Core could contend in the future, but I’m not sure it will ever win

13. Atlanta Hawks
• G:Jrue Holiday/G. Vasquez/P. Prigoni
G:Iman Shumpert/G. Vasquez/M.Belinelli
F:Michael K. Gilchrist/S. Jackson / Q. Richardson
F:Derrick Williams/J. Smith/M. Bonner
C:DeAndre Jordan/T. Mozgov/J. Pryzbilla
HC:Tom Thibodeau
• Has enough flexibility to add one more max player in the future and even more cash if Holiday is not resigned
• Great defense especially on the perimeter
• Potential to have a championship core, but need a lot of luck with player development and FA
14. New Orleans Hornets
HC: Rick Adelman
C: Bynum/Pachulia/TD/Vucevic/ Samardo Samuels
PF: Duncan/Pachulia/Harrington/Vucevic
SF: Prince/AH/Chris Singleton/Daye
SG: Afflalo/Mo Williams/Singleton
PG: Mo Williams/Isaiah Thomas/Earl Watson/ Baron Davis
• I really don’t like the idea of Duncan moving back to PF for defensive purposes. I suppose Bynum is fast enough to guard some PF’s, but a stretch 4 would really hurt this team.
• I consider Prince to be a below average small forward now.
• Lots of talent on this team, but they have a very short window. If Bynum and Duncan can work together well this is a top contender
15. Washington Wizards
Coach Avery Johnson
PG- Derrick Rose l Charles Jenkins l Marquis Teague
SG- Avery Bradley l Jason Richardson
SF- Caron Butler l Hedo Turkoglu l Fransisco Garcia
PF- Zach Randolph l Ivan Johnson l Andray Blatche
C- Bismack Biyombo l Boris Diaw
• A lot of potential with this team but way too many question marks
• Can biyombo contribute anything yet besides blocks?
• How will zach Randolph play?
• How will Rose recover?
• What does caron butler have left?
• Bad contracts in Richardson, Turkoglu, and Garcia
• Maybe could win it all in 2 years if Biyombo develops
16. Sacramento Kings
HC- Monty Williams
PG-Darren Collison/Luke Ridnour/Scott Machado
SG-Kevin Martin/Jeremy Lamb
SF-Wilson Chandler/Corey Brewer/Luke Babbitt
PF-Antawn Jamison/Dejuan Blair
C-Dwight Howard/Brandon Wright/Bernard James
• Will Dwight stay?
• Lots of future flexibility, but also the possibility almost everyone will leave
• Unclear how much Jamison has left in the tank
• Needs Martin and Chandler to bounce back
• Team fits well together, but it just isn’t talented enough
17. Boston Celtics
HC-Rick Carlisle
PG-Goran Dragic/Jarret Jack
SG-Dwayne Wade/Grant Hill/Evan Fournier/Daequan Cook
SF-Grant Hill/Jeff Green/Linas Kleiza
PF-Thomas Robinson/Marreese Speights
C-Al Jefferson/ BJ Mullens/Chris Wilcox
• Another contender with a short window
• I don’t think Wade will age that well and Hill is on his last elgs
• Not much cap flexibility
• Relying way too much on Thomas Robinson, but if he makes an immediate big impact this is a top team.
18. Memphis Grizzlies
PG: Stephen Curry/Eric Maynor/Daniel Gibson
SG: Wesley Matthews/Leandro Barbosa/Julyan Stone
SF: Harrison Barnes/Al Farouq Aminu/Derrick Brown
PF: Luis Scola/Patrick Patterson/Derrick Brown
C: Andrew Bogut/Fab Melo
HC: Doug Collins
• Enough flexibility to add one more star
• Talented, but not amazing core
• Very similar to Golden State
• Big injury risks in Bogut and Curry
Tier 3 Needs Some Work
19. Oklahoma City Thunder
PG - Andre Miller/Nate Robinson
SG - Kobe Bryant/Ronnie Brewer/Keith Bogans
SF - Luol Deng/Steve Novak/Shawne Williams
PF - Kenyon Martin/Reggie Evans/Kurt Thomas
C - Brook Lopez/Robin Lopez
HC- Dwane Casey
• A good team, but not good enough and has a short window
• Casey is a good choice for this team
20. Brooklyn Nets
HC: Nate McMillan
PG: Brandon Knight / N. Cole
SG: Brandon Rush / Jamaal Crawford
SF: Andre Iguodala / T. Harris
PF: Lamarcus Aldridge / C. Landry
C: Enes Kanter / J. Tyler
• I guess Aldridge and Iggy are young enough you can go win future, but I’m not a big fan of your young guys
• Having Jamaal Crawford really hurts your cap flexibility
21. Detroit Pistons
Head Coach- Mike Dunlap
C- JaVale McGee/Andrew Nicholson/Hasheem Thabeet
F- Lamar Odom/Jared Sullinger
F- Kawhi Leonard/Perry Jones/Jeffrey Taylor
G- Eric Gordon/Dion Waiters
G- Eric Bledsoe/Tony Wroten
• Lots of flexibility, but the guys you’ve committed to long term may be a little overpaid
• Would prefer better prospects at PG and PF
22. Los Angeles Lakers
Head Coach: Stan Van Gundy
PG: Ricky Rubio/ George Hill/Foye
SG: Nick Young / Lou Williams/Foye / Damion James
SF: Andrei Kirilenko/Corey Maggette
PF: Ryan Anderson/ Thaddeus Young / Kevin Jones
C : Chris Kaman/Brendan Haywood/Joel Anthony
• Team fits well offensively, but I don’t see it getting that far
• Good depth
• Weak frontcourt D from starters
• Not much flexibility
23. Orlando Magic
HC -Mike Woodson
PG -Chauncey Billups/Dj Augustin / Darius Johnson-Odom
SG -Monta Ellis/James Jones/DeShawn Stevenson
SF -Rudy Gay/Jae Crowder / Sasha Pavlovic
PF -David West/Royce White / Juwan Howard
C - Andre Drummond/Festus Ezeli/Ben Wallace
• I don’t think the core’s that good
• Weird mix b/w old and young
• Lots of cap flexibility
Tier 4 Clear Long Term Mediocrity
24. Chicago Bulls
PG: Deron Williams .Delonte West .Jared Cunningham
SG: Tyreke Evans .Terrence Williams / Mo Evans
SF: Shawn Marion .Marvin Williams .Quincy Miller
PF: David Lee .Donatas Motiejunas .Rashard Lewis
C: Elton Brand .Chris Andersen / Ryan Hollins
HC: Lionel Hollins
• I don’t like the fits for this team
• No starters are good 3 point shooters except for Deron to an extent
• Weak team D
• Has bad contracts in Lee, Marion and M. Williams
• Won’t contend now and doesn’t have much cap flexibility even if Evans and Brand leave next year
• Only shot of contending is if Tyreke absolutely explodes
25. New York Knicks
G: Jeff Teague / Steve Blake / Jannero Pargo
SG: Ray Allen / Shaun Livingston / Raja Bell / Xavier Henry
SF: Alonzo Gee / Jared Dudley / Dominic Mcguire
PF: Chris Bosh / Udonis Haslem
C: Tyson Chandler / Amir Johnson / Aaron Gray
HC Alvin Gentry
• Mediocre and capped out
• Nobody besides Bosh can create their own O that well
26. Houston Rockets
PG Tony Parker / Kemba Walker / Dominique Jones
SG JJ Redick / Michael Redd / Kemba Walker / Dominique Jones
SF Luc Mbah a Moute / Michael Beasley / Draymond Green
PF Andrea Bargnani / Mirza Teletovic
C Nikola Pekovic / Jared Jeffries
HC: Greg Popovich
• Good fits offensively
• Weak front court D
• Not much cap flexibility unless Pekovic is not resigned
27. Los Angeles Clippers
HC: Erik Spoelstra
PG: Russell Westbrook/Aaron Brooks/Keyon Dooling
SG: John Salmons/Anthony Morrow
SF: CJ Miles/Shane Battier/Gary Forbes
PF: Serge Ibaka/Channing Frye
C: Kendrick Perkins/Chuck Hayes
• Mediocre and capped out
• Really relying on Ibaka and Miles to fulfill potential and a big bounce back from Salmons, Perkins, Battier and Hayes
28. Toronto Raptors
HC: Lawrence Frank
C: Nene / A Randolph / J Petro
PF: D. Cousins / G Davis / J Henson
SF: E. Illyasova
SG: R. Stuckey / Jo Crawford
PG: D. Harris / J. Bayless. / P. Mills
• Not good and capped out until Cousins will need to be extended
• No small forward on the roster
29. San Antonio Spurs
PG: Brandon Jennings / Shaun Livingston / Austin Rivers
SG: Trevor Ariza Marcus Thornton Mo Harkless
SF: Gerald Wallace Devin Ebanks
PF: Kris Humphries Josh Harrellson / Victor Claver
C: Marcin Gortat Ekpe Udoh Slava Krovtsov
HC: Scott Brooks
• Mediocre and capped out for 2 years
• No stars
• Need another backup G
30. Miami Heat
PG John Wall / Chris Duhon
SG Gerald Henderson Jr / Terrence Ross
SF Landry Fields / Matt Barnes /
PF Amare Stoudemire / Tyrus Thomas / Josh McRoberts
C Spencer Hawes / Jordan Hill / Jerome Jordan
HC Tyrone Corbin
• Not very good and has bad long term contracts

I find mentors to be overrated. I'm sure you can hire just about any run of the mill washed up veteran to be a "mentor". I do really like your team though, sorry it wasn't listed among my favorites. Awesome front court of Bynum, Duncan, Harrington, and Pachulia. Prince and Afflalo is a very solid offensive/defensive swing men combo. Don't love Mo at point but he can't be too bad and his shooting should be amazing. Thomas could develop into a legit starting PG.

Appreciate your rankings Lin, although I think I could have snuck into the top 10 but that's just a matter of personal opinion. I do agree with pretty much all your points about my team though.

thanks Lin. that's about where i had my team. i get the BR thing. but i couldn't resist taking him. you're 100% right on that and the other stuff. Larry Drew was best coach available. was gonna go with an AHC, but thought a real HC would do better in rankings. thanks though LYF
