Surprises!
In this upcoming season do you project any surprises to make an impact on this squad?
Here are some of mine:
Jordan Hill- may surprise fans, and deserve pt in crunch time over Gasol. Has shown flashes of brilliant play
Devin Ebanks- will this be the year he puts it together and shows he belongs in this league
Earl Clark- former lottery pick could make an impact as a defender will an underrated offensive game
Chris Duhon- shot over 40 perecent from three and is a big game player from his Duke days..
do u guys see anyone surprising?

Re: Surprises!
Who would be the Lakers back up SF in the finals facing Lebron if Peace gets in foul trouble? Ebanks seems a little thin for him, possibly Earl Clark?
J Hill already surprised laker fans from last season play.
If Ebanks can develop to be a consistant shooter like Ariza, yes he would be a nice suprise.

only suprise i want to see this season is Lakers getting Jose after the trade dead line

In all seriousness, Darius Morris could be a bigger contributor than some people think. A lot of fans have Blake and Duhon penciled in as the backup lead guards, but if Darius gets a shot to take minutes from either of those guys, I truly believe he will

I feel like its put up or get out time for Ebanks. He has to take his game to another level. Either a fearless slasher with a midrange... or a complete dissapointment.

based on his summer league play, I'd say he isn't getting a jump shot anytime soon

Ok and?. Rondo didn't/doesn't have an automatic jumper, and look how effective he is. Morris if given time isn't gonna be asked to carry the scoring load when he's on the floor anyway. What's needed at the PG spot behind Nash is a guard who can set his teammates up WHILE STILL keeping the defense honest by showing penetration ability when needed, which is something that Morris has shown he can do. Blake is ok, but he's just no type of threat....I can't really speak on Duhon cause there's not much i can go off of.
*****I AM NOT COMPARING MORRIS TO RONDO, JUST USING HIM AS A REFERENCE POINT*****

Re: Surprises!
I agree that MWP will have a great season, Ebanks problem has been inconsistent minutes so I think if he gets regular PT and he has improved his Jumper then he will have a good season, I think Kobe will shoot close to 50% with all the open shots he will get and we will have 3 guys averaging a double double (Nash, Pau, Dwight)

Re: Surprises!
I like that we've been focusing on the positive, but I think the biggest surprise for many fans is going to be how inconsistent we are going to be for the beginning of the season.
I think we're going to enjoy a lot of exciting basketball but it's going to take us some time to begin firing on all cylinders...
I think the second surprise is going to be how effective our bench will be... I like the talent we have coming off the bench. I think it's effective and complimentary talent to what we have starting. I think it may start to be exposed after the ASG, but I think until then, we'll be pleasantly surprised...
Maybe not too much of a surprise but I think it's not going to be too long before Jamison steals MWP's starting job. I'm excited to see how MWP's renewed commitment to conditioning translates to his performance on the court, but I think his deficiencies over the last few years are greater than any level of conditioning can overcome. I predict many will be calling for MWP to be traded or amnestied as the Trade deadline approaches... I don't think he will though. I think his role will be reduced to the point that he just comes off the bench for those few Defensive assignments that he's invaluable for.
I think the biggest surprise may be that Duhon takes over Blakes role as backup PG. I've heard all the negatives about him, but he's younger and potentially more physical, and I think he's prime for a change of uniform to trigger a decent career revival... I think we may be favorably surprised by the one part of his game nobody has had much bad to say about... Defense... I think Blake is declining faster than we'd like to admit... These things may combine to cause that shift...
But I think as we approach the trade deadline, we may be looking for a legit PG to come off the bench for Nash. I think MWP and Blake may be the trade chips thrown around... Maybe with Ebanks too... Now that we have Meeks and Clark...
The final surprise I think may be how few minutes Nash plays. I think we'll try to get him integrated into the offense quickly but once he is, we'll start rolling back his minutes.
All just my opinions, but this is how I see it.

you can't ref a player and expect him to turn it around the same way as said player and then try to say you're not comparing them......Morris sucks he just a by product of the team not wanting to spend money prior year and thus making the team by default. I hardly saw him beat anyone off the dribble in summer league either, nor did he do very much in setting up his teammates, he looked to get his own most of the time. Regardless ofyour hope, Potato head isn't gona play him or give him meaningful minutes unless blake is extremely horrible and Duhon is more horrible then his usual self.

Re: Surprises!
It'll be a surprise to some how much better our interior defense will be with Dwight anchoring the middle instead of Bynum.
Sometimes being wrong is awesome!!!
