DeRozan

Post#1 » by LongLiveIverson » Fri Sep 14, 2012 5:43 pm

Sixers fan here.
Seems like Derozan is on a shorter leash with you guys drafting Terrence Ross at 8..who by the way I love, has the bounce and the jumper to be a solid scoring threat for a long time.

Evan Turner, Thad Young, Nick Young For DeMar Derozan, Barganani, Klienza

In Turner you are getting an upgrade from Derozan on the wing, who actually plays defense and rebounds like a beast. Would fit in perfect with Terrence Ross and Lowry who both can stroke it from deep. He can run the point as well when Lowry is on the bench assuming you trade Calderon.
Nick Young is a nice expiring deal who provides 3pot shooting which you guys lacked. Thad can be your 6th man and would be perfect next to a defensive center like JV.

C. Jonas/Amir/Gray
F. Ed Davis/Thad
F. Turner/Fields
G. Ross/Young
G. Lowry/JL3

I think we'd be giving up too much.

It's not like Evan Turner is a proven star (though neither is DeRozan) but Bargs is flat out better than Thad Yonge and creates mis-matches.

Neither Nick Young nor Klienza impress me.

Turner is awful, you can keep that mistake.

I'm sure you'll find many fans here receptive though. We always overrate bad players like Turner.

Bargnani is by far the best player in that trade

Not giving up Bargnani in a trade like this but I like the Demar for Turner straight up.

I'm a DeRozan fan and I'd do that trade. We'd become one of the best rebounding teams in the league with that trade and be super athletic and young.

No way are we gonna help pair up Bargnani and Bynum for a team in the same division

Horrible trade. People say Demar hasn't broken out yet but he's a year younger than Turner and still manages to average a career 14 PPG on 46% shooting whereas Turner averages 8 points on 44% shooting. Yes, Turner is on the playoff team, defends, and rebounds well but him + Nick Young (Chemistry killer) + Thadeus Young still don't equate to what Bargnani and Demar are worth. Not to mention that Thadeus is slightly overpaid.

Probably one of the only guys here that has stuck with Bargnani for a while and while I'd do Derozan for Turner straight up, I think Bargnani, as flawed as he is- even if he doesn't improve at the nuances in his game, can still be a strong peice for a contending team. A healthy Bynum and Bargnani has insane upside. This trade is very lopsided in value, I feel it makes Philly a much stronger team now, with even more potential for growth depending on the development of their front court.

In no way are we giving you Bargnani that easily, as Andyo has said Bargnani would be a great piece to have on a contending team. If anything i'd take a flyer on Turner for Derozan straight up.

Scrubs for scrubs. I'd rather keep the Raptor scrubs. No point in making trades like that if we don't get anyone useful out of it.

Wouldn't be interested from a Philly perspective.

No from my Philly opinion. Turner is not awful. He'd been a good defender and and good ball handler. He was played out of position and did what iggy did so he didn't get many opportunities. Look for him to break out.

I don't think Toronto does this really. Turner has potential to be a Jalen Rose type of SF but then again DeRozan has potential as well. Either way both players are what they are I think at the end of the day Turner is more valuable then DD at this point and time. Now that leaves us Bargs + Kleiza for Thad and Nik Young to me I don't do that deal. Bagnani is a elite scorer in this league who is a underrated man defender and defender in general. I think he will fit the mold in Toronto and if we were to do this deal I think Thad and Nik would be shipped out for a good legit PF in return or some sort of draft pick.

I just feel that Toronto isn't going anywhere with Barganani as their top scorer. Very talented, but then again so is a guy like JR Smith and Marcus Thornton. (No defense, not a complete player who wins you games if you get what im saying)

Turner-Ross-Lowry backcourt would be perfect together. Fields as a swing 6th man, Young just as an extra shooter to space the floor. At center obviously Jonas would be relied on heavily, Amir Johnson and Gray would provide depth. The 4 would obviously be weaker without Barganani but Thad and Ed Davis would provide an offense/defense combo much like what we did in the playoffs and succeeded with Thad and Lavoy Allen. In Klienza your not losing much as you already have Turner/Ross/Fields/Young to play the 2-3. If the Sixers threw Arnett Moultrie their first rounder this year I think it would be extremely beneficial for the future. Keep in mind you also have Calderon as an expiring to swing with lets say an Ed Davis for a quality 4 like Paul Milsap.

If we're giving up Bargnani and pieces, I'd look for something like Jrue at least. He's a game changer... Thad really cant make the same impact on the game.

DeRozan and Turner are a wash, but this season is going to be determinant on how their careers will pan out. They both have higher expectations this upcoming season.

Here...I think Canadians look at Math just like I would and the DeRozean/Bargs duo were close to 40ppg,the Turner,Young duo, were not much over 20. That Turner might someday be an upgrade,he is not that now. He's been less than expected.

I expect DeRozean moves to SF, which was more his natural slot. Valancunias might become a quality starter but he's not there yet and Bargs is therefore the big who's of value. The various PF's Toronto plays with him are, like T Young, SF sized and at best borderline starters. Here...Toronto loses established starters, gets guys who failed to lock down a starter job. Duh?
CENSORED... No comment.
