How do you feed the addiction in Sept

Post#1 » by Lava Rock Kid » Wed Sep 12, 2012 8:33 pm

I hate this time of year, no new posts, no new info, a revised team and revised expectations. But nothing, no news, no sports, and nothing. Can October come any slower. How do my fellow Jazz fans deal with this.

Same here. I find myself watching d. locke's youtube (dlocke09) report which *sometimes contains* jazz news...

Other than checking for rumors daily...that's about it. Waiting for Raja to get traded or bought out (preferred he stays on to get sent to the D league)...pretty slow times :(

I listen David Locke's podcast every morning which is always good. Even if you don't like him he still has the best Jazz stuff. Good way to fill the void.

And yes, after last season, this summer has felt like an absolute breeze.

I agree in regards to watching Lockes podcasts. I was using the impending iPhone 5 to feed many info DivX, but dang the iPhone 5 was sure a let down! So much so that I'm sending thus from my hour old galaxy s3. Hopefully the jazz aren't so disappointing that I have to switch teams.

I construct ludicrous, multi-paragraph arguments for the sole purpose of setting myself apart from the majority on every topic.

... and I also read every scrap of NBA rumor, even if it's about Jason Kidd saying "hi" to someone on the street as he enters a courtroom to address criminal charges.

dream about trading players.

i also secretly curse baseball and football for being more popular than my sport this time of year. even the college sports, though i still have teams i cheer for, should be taking a back seat to pro basketball. every time. (cursed espn, yahoo, foxsports, etc...)

Fantasy basketball is where I go. (Just opened up by the way, wanna join a league with me ;) ) Lots of fun learning about the players when it has a payback to winning the league. (competition sure is strange eh?) This year seems to be a bit more with newer players joining the league so more to browse and more opportunity to pick and win fantasy ball.

My other areas I go to fill the void are soccer, which is perfect off season with the NBA. And is a more complicated game than most US people even comprehend, like the radio announcers, and soccer moms. It also as tons more drama as one team can intermixes with multiple leagues and tournaments.

College football is a fun temporary replacement but in Utah I've lost a lot of interest just due to the fact that the Utah teams couldn't win a championship unless they "crawled through the bathroom window" sort a speak. This year however has brought some newer interest to that with independence and Pac-12. And hopefully the BCS gets over their greed organization, and makes a truly all league competition for the championship.

NFL BABY!!!
I hate to say it but the NFL rules all sports.
I wish the NFL had a long season like the NBA :D

The NFL currently has all the things going for it that I would love to see in the NBA.
The biggest is PARITY! "On any given sunday" really is true!
Refs that really do seem to be impartial. (once they get back to work)

I will always be a Jazz fan, but big picture the NBA sucks compared to the NFL.

That's always been the ugliest part of the NBA for me. No other sport really grants the officials so much power and absolute immunity.

If you follow European football then there's a lot of overlap with the NBA; in fact there's some form of high-level soccer, either international or club, almost the entire year. I love that about soccer/football. I've been living and dying (mostly dying) with Liverpool since the beginning of August. #justiceforthe96 #YNWA

Emphasis on temporary. College football is a lot of fun, but it's over too quickly. And I'm really missing the end-of-the-year Utah/BYU game this year; much more than I did last year.

It's worse in soccer. Much worse. For all of its great attributes, this, in my mind, is soccer's greatest weakness.

Glad to know there's another one around!

I'm trying to be patient. Aside from the WBA game they haven't looked horrible, but I'm thinking this is going to be a somewhat messy "rebuilding" year.

You got this one right! And RSL has been on the bad end of this too many times this year. One single call can change a whole game's strategy throughout and even the outcome. This is what I find I hate most about soccer. There is not as much wiggle room for the talent to make up the difference when a ref misses an offsides call that results in a goal or results in not even getting the chance to shot a one on one. One on one is such a big advances to scoring that many teams play back the whole game so as to eliminate that opportunity.

Very fun and very exciting sport though, I am loving it more and more.
