Ultimate Fighter - Carwin vs Nelson

Post#1 » by spykelee » Thu Sep 13, 2012 12:40 pm

Some decent opening round match ups. At least they did a good job of editing and cutting the boring wrestle fests and showing more of the action. Made the 2 hours go by a little faster. Though I think Dana needs to be a little less critical of guys who don't go out there guns blazing the hole time...

Without giving anything away, I'll say we got a nice dynamic in the house, some decent BJJ guys and some guys who look to be tough, competitive strikers. Should be a fun season.

Confirmed. My copy rolled into work Wednesday night. It's actually surprising to get something from the UFC 2 days in advance, there usually pretty secretive with there material. Anyways, I should have prefaced my post with that information I suppose... Oh well, the opening episode isn't too bad, for the most part, you guys should enjoy it. It's not nearly as drawn out as we've seen in the past.

God dammit spyke, I wasted a solid 30 seconds looking for a download last night.

Still hate the Friday timeslot.

All the guys that I was rooting for lost, except for Neil Magney. He trains with Torres in Chicago, has a funny looking head, and he squeaks when throwing some exciting strikes. I'm a fan.

Early predictions to win the show?

I'm liking James "The Snake" Chaney and Dom Waters.

The preview looked awesome though I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of that drama happens in one drunken night. When the last two were standing there I knew the idiot with the pink mohawk would be a nightmare to have on your team, most of the preview was him being a drunken moron lol

Those are my guys too... Chaney's SUPER slick on the ground. Waters is just a freakish athlete. Forrest's JJ coach is pretty decent too... his striking looked decent.

I also like the stoner from Kelowna, Michael Hill. Great athlete, hits hard. He's not passing a piss test though, he's got the stoner eyes.

Yeah I think the BJJ coach-turned-fighter is the dark horse this season. He looked super relaxed in there as if he was toying with a child. His opponents will have to keep the fight standing or it's game over. If he ends up fighting Chaney at some point, it'll be a treat.

I picked Sam Alvey and Mike Ricci before the season started and I see no reason to go against it now.

Ricci's a good play because of his camp.

Finally got around to watching this. Usually the refs treat these as exhibitions. Very first fight, ridiculously late stoppage by none other than Josh Rosenthal. Just amazing.

I probably won't watch this (too much effort to catch Friday night shows for me honestly), but looked like some slick grapplers in this bunch.
