That's because in the US, they know jack **** about football. Americans are anything but representative when it comes to gauging the popularity of global football stars.

There's only one country where football isn't at least a top 3 sport, and it's the US. Why? Because you guys have an attention span that reaches just about to the next commercial break, as opposed to 45 minutes without one. Not meant to be an insult, television and advertising gurus have conditioned you to be like this.

Or we just have higher standards for entertainment. Shrug. If you enjoy watching a game where literally nothing happens for most of 60 minutes, that's on you. You can talk about how great the game is, but when something ends in a 0-0 tie, you can't honestly sit there and talk about how great it is without me rolling my eyes.

/facepalm
not everyone enjoys soccer and not every game is great even if you enjoy it. but your statement is beyond ignorant.

Almost as ignorant as stating that the US doesn't like soccer because we have no attention spans. I'm sure you can list the reasons why you don't watch NASCAR, tennis, football, basketball, or any other sport. Those reasons don't make you ignorant. I hate soccer. I think it's a terribly boring game. Getting offended at my opinion seems silly.

Don't you soccer fans get sick of telling us Americans how awesome your sport is? We don't care, do you ever see an American talk about how great American football is? No because the game speaks for itself and we don't need to sound like a broken record to convince people that it's great.

Jesus Christ if I have to read one more time how many people watch the world cup. Who cares?!?!?

Must people in Europe loves Basketball, and would love american football if it had a marketing here. About baseball, well, it is considered the most boring thing ever.
