First, they are going to look at trades to pair things down with moving Harrington out a top priority to clear up minutes for the young bigs.
If they cannot move Harrington or make a bigger move involving him and/or others, I see some smaller moves.
1) McRoberts or Ayon dealt for a Draft Pick and/expiring.
2) This will depend a bit on Justin Harper. If they like what they see or feel he can grow, I see The Magic trying to buyout or possible cut Quentin Richardson. It would be dead weight on the cap this year and next but The Magic need minutes for the youth especially with Hedo Turkoglu probably here until at least the Trading Deadline.
Harper cost this team two good second round picks (2013 and 2014) so hopefully he will pan out.
Of course, if The Magic get other players in deals, this could change plans.
Anything is on the table now though because of the rebuilding process and you can expect to see this team active at the deadline moving Redick to a contender and maybe Turkoglu to a team looking to cut some salary for 2013-2014 (Cut his $12 million for $6 million). Glen Davis would also be a chip that could fetch something at the deadline although he is needed here for leadership and to keep this team around 15-20 wins instead of below that.
One thing is for sure: Rob Hennigan will be active.
I don't mind if we keep Harrington and Turkoglu, but there's really no room for McRoberts and Richardson on this team. I think those are the two that are gone. We could just trade Harrington at the deadline or even cut him at the end of the season along with Turkoglu(partially guaranteed contracts). Everyone will eventually get minutes. I can't wait for the preseason. It's gonna be interesting.
That could happen.
Harrington does have two part-guaranteed years after this one so that would be dead weight on the cap for two more years after this one if he is cut. I'd prefer to see him moved so the young guys get minutes.
McRoberts or Ayon has to move if Harrington stays.

QRich will be moved as he has a very tradeable contract while he can be very good backup for a playoff team.

That assumes Harrington is slotted to play the 4, with BBD (presumably) at the 5.
I wouldn't be surprised if Harrington winds up pushing Hedo out and starting at the 3.

You guys do understand that if we are in tank mode, come the trade deadline a few of our vets will be traded to playoff teams right? I will assume anywhere between 2-4 of either Nelson, JJ, Hedo, Harrington, BBD will be gone. Though people say it all the time the Magic have nothing but trash and blah blah blah. No team would deny adding depth to their bench for a strong playoff push, whether it's for picks, cash, or young talent. And all of a sudden our trash seems pretty good to most contending teams.

I for one hope Hedo is moved. I like having Q on this team he is a on a cheap deal, plays hard and brings toughness to a young team who will probably need a fire lit under their asses more than a couple games. Move Al and Hedo if possible, run with the youngins.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XLVII "Training Camp" E
Deadline Deals:
Magic TRADE: Al Harrington and Josh McRoberts to Golden State Warriors for expiring contract of Richard Jefferson
Magic Receive: Contract of Richard Jefferson (kept for remainder of season or bought out after deadline)
Magic Trade: Contract of Hedo Turkoglu, JJ Redick, Glen Davis, Cash Considerations
Magic Receive: 2013 Charlotte Bobcats 1st, Marquis Teague, Contract of Carlos Boozer, Contract of Richard Hamilton (bought out)
Magic Roster:
C: NIkola Vucevic, Gustavo Ayon, Kyle O'Quinn
PF: Carlos Boozer, Andrew Nicholson
SF: Richard Jefferson (expiring), Moe Harkless, Quentin Richardson
SG: Arron Afflalo, E'Twaun Moore, Christian Eyenga
PG: Jameer Nelson, Marquis Teague, Ish Smith
Boozer should be able to showcase his offense in such a lineup, and will be able to show he is still a very good player, and one that could benefit a contending team willing to invest in him. This would enable a draft day trade a la Zach Randolph, whereby we possibly obtain an additional pick as well.
The above trades would enable us to erase the contracts of Al Harrington, Hedo Turkoglu, and Glen Davis, all while obtaining a very valuable pick in Charlotte's 1st, a promising backup PG in Teague, and a large albeit tradable contract in the still very talented Carlos Boozer.

^^^I would do the Warriors trade Cig!^^^
But, I think the Warriors may need a bit more. May have to add a 2nd rounder.
Wouldn't do the Bulls trade.

It's tough, but I'd do it solely for the CHA 1st rounder. 2014 could be a stacked draft. Got to try to get Wiggins.

Not sure if posted here. I remember reading this awhile ago, but forgot to post it.

Local 6 Sports Director David Pingalore learned Tuesday that the Orlando Magic has hired Laron Profit as Director of Player Development. Profit was drafted by the Magic in 1999, then traded to Washington prior to that season.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XLVII "Training Camp" E
I think the most frustrating thing about this season will be the thought of a weak draft next year. Unless some freshman comes out and shocks the world, there isn't a game changer to be looking forward to drafting. It almost doesn't matter (baring said amazing freshman) what we do this year. Next year will be the year a lot of teams tank on purpose. I will be watching more college basketball than I have in the last five years combined.

know what i'm actually rooting for him....it's his chance at redemption and he was one of the better stories of Summer League....plus he basically balled out in summer league....had great numbers....hopefully he can stick in the league this time around
