To piggyback on payitforward's comments, last season Barbosa rated below replacement value in my system. The year before, he rated well-below average (but above replacement level). He turns 30 in November, which is not an age at which guys usually get better or regain form. His PER is superficially high because he shoots a lot.

Would anyone Want Jason Kapono or Adam Morrison?

No. Kapono does nothing else well. Morrison was horrifically awful.

So a while back, I thought "Hmm, that Earl Watson looks like a nice backup - he'd be a good guy to add as a veteran who can give you 10-15 minutes at the PG spot."

In the meantime, the team signed Earl Boykins, but he didn't work out. Now they've invited Earl Barron to camp. Maybe they can do a deal for Earl Clark. I'm sure Acie Earl is available.

But the one thing that is certain - by the time they do get around to bringing in Earl Watson, he'll be past his prime and will have lost all effectiveness.

Jordan Williams has been waived, I'd invite him to camp

I would too, depending on why the Hawks cut him. He was productive in limited playing time last season. If they cut him because he's out of shape, I'd pass. Assuming he's in shape, I think he's worth bringing to camp.

We definitely have been down that road with Blatche. I am not terribly optimistic since it looks like the Hawks need a big man, they have Petro/Pachulia and Horford who could possibly play Center.

Apparently Williams was cut to make-way for Ivan Johnson who the Hawks like better apparently.

If so, it's mildly puzzling in a "shrug of the shoulders" kinda way. In my estimation, Williams was more productive last season, and he's 6 years younger.

I'm sure Ferry was just following orders.

Jordan Williams looked about as good to me as Seraphin last season. His PER and WS/48 as a rookie were higher than Kevin's rookie numbers.

His release surprises me, because IMO he's about good enough to start at PF. I wonder if Williams has gained some weight back?

I'd grab him in a minute. One of the real surprise bargains in last year's draft. I can't imagine why they cut him loose. If he gained a little weight, he can lose it again.

An opportunity -- but I don't expect Ernie to take advantage of it. :(

Well, time to update the thread, Brian Cook accepted the non-guaranteed camp invite deal.

I still think they may let Mack go before the season starts so they would really have two slots open.

I saw that in the WP yesterday.

You got your facts wrong-again hands, you didn't see this yesterday because Cook signed today. You even posted the link to Mike Lee's update to his 9/15 story which was posted tonight, not yesterday.

lol.

I wasn't trying to be controversial there Closg. Just wanted to post a link I saw recently from the WP. I thought it was yesterday. I guess it was it was something I saw over the weekend. I stand corrected. Nice fact checking their chief. Good thing we didn't let that go uncorrected.

The point wasn't really about when I saw it. I just wanted to post the link to add to what you posted, not take away from it. No good deed goes unpunished I guess.
