Wolves' All-Time Player Power Rankings - Centers

Post#1 » by Klomp » Mon Sep 17, 2012 6:49 am

All-Time Roster

As we near Training Camp for the 2012-13 season, let's look back at the best players to wear a Timberwolves jersey by position. Please rank your top 5 in its entirety, as i plan to talley the results in the future, and will assign point values to where each player is ranked. Any incomplete rankings will not be included in the results.

1. 5 points
2. 4 points
3. 3 points
4. 2 points
5. 1 point

How would you rank the centers? The determining criteria is up to you, as well as how you classify certain individuals.

1. Dean Garrett
2. Rasho Nesterovic
3. Nikola Pekovic
4. Ervin Johnson
5. Mark Blount

:dontknow:
With a full season like his half-season last year, this is all Pek. Garrett probably had the most time as a real contributor on a quality team, followed by Rasho. Erv's minutes weren't huge, but his D and leadership were a big factor, and Mark... scored... sometimes. Between Blount/Olowokandi/Spencer/Breuer/Darko... just... I don't care.

1. Rasho
2. Pek
3. Kandi
4. Garrett
5. Darko

This list is hard, I'd like to rate Dean and Erv higher because they were good for the team unlike Kandi or Darko, but Garrett just didn't have the talent and Erv was pretty hard to watch at times.

Take my list with a grain of salt because I didn't see any Wolves center in action prior to Erv and Kandi.

1. Rasho
2. Pek
3. Erv
4. Darko
5. Kandi

Pek would have been #1 if he only hadn't played for two seasons in a Wolves jersey. He'll most likely overtake Rasho after next season. Erv's defense and leadership make him my 3rd favorite Center (which is quite sad, though). Darko and Kandiman are a wash to me but I once wanted Darko to carry out my babies. Thus, he gets the nod in this case.

1. Rasho Nesterovic - Probably our most consistent center we've had to this point
2. Nicola Pekovic - Probably too high considering the little sample size, but I can't help it, our center history is terrible.
3. Ervin Johnson - Solely cause of his timing, being here during our most successful season, a solid guy for us then.
4. Dean Garrett - Helped out during some playoff runs.
5. Randy Breuer - Wanted to get a different name out there lol....scored 40 once so that's nice.

This position is mostly an interchangeable pile of poop.

1. Rasho (for now)
2. Pekovic (should be #1 by season's end)
3. Dean Garrett (probably doesn't deserve to be here since he was mainly Marbury's beneficiary)
4. Felton Spencer (eh, why not)
5. Dorko

1) Al Jefferson - He was probably the most talented and he had that one 12 game stretch prior to the injury where he looked like we might really have something.
2) Rasho - I never liked Rasho but I do appreciate what he did after I've seen what truly poor center play looks like
3) Ervin Johnson - I feel like Erv was very pedestrian but he was reliable to play hard and much more consistent as a rebounder than some of what we had at the time.
4) Pek - He showed more growth in one year than anyone else we've had and he is SO entertaining compared to every other center we've had (ever)
5) Dean Garrett - Steph Marbury brought you into this world, and he can take you out of it.

My favorite Twolves centers of all time (no joke)

1) Darko - Can't explain why.
2) Pek - thanks for being a real center
3) Brian Curley - Purely for the hair
4) Oliver Miller - He was just so damn fat. I think he dunked without jumping one time
5) Stanley Roberts - He was my first twolves center. You never forget your first.

1. Al Jefferson. Wasn't he the de facto center during his stint in Minnesota?
2. Rasho Nesterovic. I guess. My excitement for him his lukewarm, kind of like his game.
3. Default.

I think you're thinking of Bill Curley, the big white PF from BC? Brian Curley is a golfer or aparently a sound man for a handful of bad TV shows (says Google)

Bill Curley had that unfortunate "island bald spot" in the front, didn't he? And, that was a bit before the shaved head look was more common.

Poor guy.

How could I forget. Do you think I merged Brian Cardinal with Bill Curley? Must've. That "island" was unfortunate.
