Who do you take 3rd Overall?

Post#1 » by Raptor_Guy » Thu Sep 20, 2012 1:14 pm

It's clear LeBron and Durant will be the first 2 picks in almost every draft, who would you take 3rd? The 2 obvious picks would either be Paul or Love, some may even elect to take Deron Williams or Wade. Who would you want?

CP3. But honestly, I'd rather trade down, and try to snag a late 1st + a 3rd for the pick.

Paul. He was right there with LeBron/Durant last year (better than both in the last 2 months of the season). Numbers wise he was a good amount better than Love.

I know there's injury concerns with Paul, but Love has broken down the last two years in the fantasy playoffs.

Love would probably be more fun to own though.

D-Will shouldn't even be considered anywhere close to the top of the first. In 9 cat he's never finished better than 22nd for a full season. Now that Kobe's dropped into the 2nd in competitive leagues, D-Will has taken over as the annual overrated 1st round pick.

Wade should be middle of the first.

In many leagues i'm into, it's Love in first pick, i just don't get it, Lebron James is number 1, it's proved that play with Wade and Bosh doesn't hurt it's stats.

Chris Paul. This doesn't have to do with Kevin Love's production so much as it has to do with the lack of proven Point Guards that can give you 6+ Assists/game, especially with Derrick Rose and Ricky Rubio being out. This is compounded by the fact that many of these proven Point Guards are already ranked pretty high, so the people in your league that follow the preset rankings will snatch them up in early rounds, leaving few decent Point Guards left. You'll still probably be able to get Rebounds and Blocks in later rounds, since players like Nikola Pekovic, Bismack Biyombo, and Jonas Valanciunas aren't rated very high. If Meyers Leonard and Tyler Zeller do well, those are two more players you can add to the list of low-ranked rebounders/blockers you can get in the late rounds/waiver wire.

I agree here.....IMHO...the elite PGs are only available in the 1st round....in the 2nd round....there are only a few that I'd consider a PG that I'd want to "start" on my Fantasy Team....beyond the 2nd round....there are only IMHO 2nd Tier PGs ( quality PGs but not elite level PGs like CP3 or DWill ).

But for PF/Centers like Kevin Love...there are "Starting" quality PF/Centers that can be drafted all the way up to the 6th round that wouldn't do nearly as good but can contribute "near" top tier PF/C production in the later rounds.

Easily CP3. Love makes case, but point guard stats are harder to fill.
