D-MO isn't getting minutes before Duhon or Blake. I'd be surprised if he actually suited up for games.

Steve Nash has so much knowledge to pass on. Sessions would have become a beast learning from Nash for 3 more years. But starting is more important to him than being the 6th man. There has to be someone out there that wants to learn and has a true PG brain.

This post makes 0 sense. How are going to move 2 bad backup PGs at 7 million combined for a better backup PG? Figure out the logistics of that trade first and even the benefits to the team thats doing the trading. Another thing is, Blake and Duhon are good enough to be backup PG's. Not sure what guys expect from a backup lol.

People still expect some sort of playmaker off the bench. While the Lakers never used to have a traditional point guard running the second unit during the Phil Jackson coached Kobe/Gasol era squad we did have Lamar Odom as our main play maker off the bench. Some people say that 3 point shooting is what this team desperately needs off the bench however I think we could really use a real play maker off the bench. Even though it was a really small sample size our second unit looked a lot better when Sessions was coming off the bench. He was actually able to create for the guys on our bench while being a nice scoring spark himself off the bench. I don't know about Duhon but people simply just do not trust Steve Blake as a play maker.

When Nash is on the bench I suspect the ball will be in Kobe's hands to facilitate the offense. If this is the case then we're going to need spot up shooters on the floor, not a playmaker PG

This is going to be the one area Mike tweaks with during the preseason and maybe even the regular season. I'd give the nod to Duhon just for sake of not seeing Steve play. It's gonna come down to who plays the best in preseason.

having a 2nd player in the backcourt that can dribble penetrate or even turn the corner is important

you don't know what you have until its gone, imo, losing farmar/shannon/sasha and replacing them with steve blake dealt our bench the biggest blow, even moreso than dealing lamar for nothing

I disagree. Not actually getting a real PG (not that it was the front office for fault for the CP3 thing) to consume real starter minutes so Blake wouldnt be playing 22-25 MPG hurt LA and then also having Derek Fisher as the starter still. Teams just adjusted to LA's strengths and it showed.

i disagree with your assessment due to the addition and impact of ramon sessions (although not in the POs, cos he was just crap)

I'm betting my balls DJO and DMorris will be Nash's back ups.

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
