Re- Picking the 2011 NBA Draft-you pick Alec Burks again?

Do you pick Alec Burks at #12 again.
Burks was pretty good and showed he might become elite at getting to the hoop and drawing fouls. He is good.
Other players avaialable then include Kawhi Leonard, Faried, and Marshon Brooks.
I like Burks a lot, but at #12....drafting again....I would Pick Leonard. He is awesom at the SF with elite defense and rebounding. Top 1-2 defensive wing in the league. 7-3 wing span with hands bigger than Shaqs. 45% 3s in the playoffs when the the biggest knock of him coming in to the league was that he couldn't shoot. He seemed to take that to heart and became an excellent 3 point shooter.
Kawhi will be a 10 year starter and make a few all star teams.
I know we were not thinking about drafting a small forward, but bpa is smart.

With hindsight, I would probably go for Lenard too, but not by a huge margin....... It also depends on what position you finally see Hayward playing, if it's SG, Lenard is the pick, if it is SF you go with Burks......

I wouldn't just pick Burks ahead of Leonard. I'd pick him over 5-6 guys that went before him.

This seems a bit excessive. Burks was actually the guy I wanted more than anyone else in the draft, but I was pretty upset when we took him with Leonard still on the board. That being said, Burks is gonna be an above average scorer at the very least. And at 12 I'll take that. Remember that if this is a re-draft, Kawhi is definitely not still there at 12.

I don't think so:
Biyombo
Fredette
Walker
T. Thompson
K. Thompson
Vesely
Knight
At this point, Burks has as much of a shot as being as good as or better than any of those players, and I think that goes for Leonard too. To tell you the truth, it's premature for myself or anyone to conclusively say anything after one measly lockout-shortened year - but I would happily roll the dice on Burks ahead of most of these guys.

i like Burks upside but I wish he was bigger like Hayward size. I would pick Burks ov Leonard barely bc of upside but I would pick SHumpert ov both of them assumming no knee injury.
I still stick with Kanter but with all our bigs a young PG would be nice to have on the roster and Burks is NOT a PG whatsoever!

I'd still go with it. At this point none of the others have really shown much more. I really like Faried, but I wasn't all that excited about Leonard (I'll eat crow now).

I must've misread your post. I absolutely agree that I would take Burks over 5-6 guys taken before him. I thought you meant you would take 5-6 guys taken before him.

Re: Re- Picking the 2011 NBA Draft-you pick Alec Burks again
There isn't much a case to be made for taking Burks over Leonhard. That's pretty much a no-brainer, as it was at the time. You can play Hayward and him together, or you can bring Hayward off the bench as your 6th man. Either way, Kawhi is clearly a better player than Burks now and almost certainly has more upside.
That said, I like the Burks pick more now than I did then. I wanted Singleton, and while I would still happily take Singleton over Alec, its pretty close. I'm impressed with his skill level and I have much more optimism about his J developing than I did at the time we drafted him. I like the pick, but missing out on Kawhi will be something we regret for a long time, imo.

At least we don't have to be mortal enemies now.

I would trade Burks in a heartbeat for Klay Thompson or Brandon Knight. What are you talking about?
Possibly even Byombo.

That's fair enough, i have no issue with it. But an argument can easily be made both ways.

I was hoping for Leonard or a reach with Faried before and during the draft... still would've liked to have seen us take those guys, but I'm happy with Burks. I'd take any of those 3 guys.

OP here.
Burks was a mystery to me. You never know how good a player will be when they are doing great a a small-time basketball school and conference. ( Colorado )
It is clear that Burks skill to get to the line has translated to the NBA.
Burks is good, with big size and always elevates at the hoops for easy driving layups.
I am very happy with the pick

i like burks, and he's got upside. I see him more playing at the point than as an off guard. Right now Leonard and Manimal Faried are better players, but all drafts have some "steals" (what about Isaiah Thomas at the 60th?).
Burks at the 13th was a good call.
