Yeah, this draft has been so slow. Not that we need to be in a hurry, as we'll finish in time, but still, it's frustrating when I only pick once every 3-4 days. It gets hard to remember who I've picked before and what my strategy is.

What I do is go to the prerankings in our Yahoo league. Arrow the guys I take to the left, and exclude (arrow left) the guys the other 15 managers take. Then the guys in the middle are in Yahoo ranking order and available. This gives me a draft taken list, my team list, availables on the same page. I had paper cheat sheets but they got wet so went new technique.

I'm not sure, but did DC just post for Seattle out of turn?

DC was correct. You were skipped because you went over 12 hours. Sabonis made his pick, then you made your late pick. Afterwards DC posted Seattle's pick. Nothing wrong there.

Oh I see. I must say, I'm really against this rule of people missing their picks. Like seriously, the guy before me made his pick late Saturday night. I was out and unable to reach a computer, then I slept in a bit on Sunday morning and when I woke up to make my pick (an hour late apparently) someone had already jumped ahead of me? That's not right fellas, bogus rule.

Lol, I don't get your continued issue with the rules Cap. The time limit is really quite standard - been in all slow drafts I've ever participated in (I think).

Besides, you're arguing Rounders made his pick late Saturday night? Not sure what time zone you live in but that pick was made before 9:00pm central time. :P

I'm not trying to be a thorn or anything, I just don't like this rule and thought I'd let it be known. Maybe it wasn't late Saturday night, but I don't know about you guys, I go out partying way before 9:00pm and having my pick swiped before I even woke up the next morning doesn't seem fair to me. Sure, rules and rules and I'll abide by them if I have to, but I don't see the reasoning behind this one, we still have over a month before the season starts, and we're giving people's picks away? We're going to get the draft done with 4 weeks to spare, so why not just let everyone draft the team they want? Again, I understand if someone's M.I.A. for a few days, but I've been as quick as anyone here, so couldn't you give me a few extra hours on a Sunday morning? I mean, what's the reason behind this rule, so other teams can screw people over the first chance they get? I know it's a competitive league guys, but do you really want to win like that? Sure, I only missed one pick, and I wasn't going to pick Brandon Rush anyway, and I'm not being biased here because it was me, or Hailfire, or whoever, but it's the principle. Noone else agrees?

The time to argue this (not that I would expect it to gain much traction) was before the draft started, or at the very latest, when someone else got skipped in the first round. If you didn't care to speak up then (or even notice?), it's going to be pretty hard to get people behind you now, when we've all been drafting by the rules set in place for around 10 rounds now.

And if you know you're going to be out partying, then sleeping late, and it's within a few picks from you, just send someone a list with like 3 names on it before you go out. No reason for that to take too long or be a huge hassle for you.

Sorry guys, I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, and yeah, I didn't even notice it happened early in the draft, or else I would have spoken up then, and maybe I didn't realize how strict it was when I reviewed the settings at first, and I don't expect anything to change at this point, just thought I could stir up a debate while I sit on my thumbs and wait for the season to start. No hard feelings. I would have sent someone a list but I didn't even think it would get to me by the time Sunday morning rolled around. Maybe next year we review this rule again? I mean, we've had what, 3 instances already where people have been late? Why be so strict with it and skew the draft when we have so much time left? /rant

no offense but what you're saying is outright ridiculous. there has to be some rules, if not, people will not pick in 12 hours, they'll think about their picks more, they'll even wait for news to come up...

what kind of rule would you implement to prevent getting skipped? 24 hours? that's way way way too much, we get bored even with the 12 hour rule.

it''s simple, if you're gonna go out leave a 2-3 man list to your teammate, for example Wade and Curry were picked for me by my teammates....

Every offline draft has a time limit per pick. 12 hours is more than enough and you are always free to send a list to one of your teammates if your pick is approaching and if you are going to be away from a computer for more than 12 hours. If you are skipped, that's pretty much your fault, there is no point in blaming a rule that is pretty much given in offline drafts.

Also I dont see how you are not aware of the strictness of the rule. We drafted with the exact same rules (and even with a shorter alloted time per pick with 8 hours) last year. You should know pretty well that this is a strict rule.

The fact that nobody had a problem with this rule except you speaks volumes IMO. You should probably re-assess your position and try to figure out how 15 fantasy basketball veterans are pretty comfortable with it and you are not.

They dont appear until all the rosters are entered. However you can see the list of available players. That's the use of it.
