Glad to hear it's a minor injury

Based on some or the responses in this thread it looks like the (Please Use More Appropriate Word) fan brigade is still going strong

#Raptors centre Jonas Valanciunas sustained a left calf strain. Injury not thought to be serious. No timeline set for a return.

Surprised to hear its a calf strain and not a sprained ankle

Thank goodness. Just to hear 'strain' rather than fracture/break/tear is a huge relief.

Did Bargs wear a boot when he had a calf strain?

Good to hear it ain't serious. As someone else mentioned before 2 weeks away from preseason is enough time for JV to recover and play in couple of preseason games.

No, but he was in crutches, for a bit. This sounds more like Bargs first calf injury, than the second one. I bet he'll be out of the boot soon and then he'll just have to rest it for a bit.

to be honest, i'm VERY surprised.
not sure how the boot will treat a calf sprain, other than preventing dorsiflexion. but there are other less cumbersome treatments for calf sprains.
the problem with the walking boot that some of my pts have is the height difference between the 2 legs. they find that it hurts their other hip or their back. body compensates for the difference in height and it throws everything off.

Lmao wow so is this a 2 month Bargs calf injury to go along with terrible play once he's back? Or is this going to be a real calf injury where Jonas doesn't feel it in a few weeks?

Yea...you don't need a walking boot for a calf strain.

So it's nothing serious ok then. I'm surprised that it was a minor calf strain and not an ankle injury if he's in a walking boot. Since it's just a minor calf strain Jonas should be good in about a week or so.

Hopefully he's ready to role for the start of the pre-season.

Wouldn't they have said that if it were actually a week? The fact that there's no timetable for return sounds like they either haven't examined the injury well enough or they don't want to release how long it will actually be.

I was about to say that looks like a young Matt Bonner gazing adoringly up at Yao there.
