"Gana Diop Have It All!!!" The NBA2K13 Thread

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Mon Sep 24, 2012 3:02 am

Last year out of disgust of the lockout I refused and never bought 2K12 (keep in mind I have bought a copy every year for the past forver).

I instead opted for NHL12 - which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Quite ironic that now the NHL is is lockout mode, so I am back on the NBA 2K13 with a vengeance.

I believe it is being released Oct 2nd - which is perfect because the following weekend is a long weekend up here which will allow me to log some serious mins right off the bat.

So does anyone have any screen grabs or player/team ratings or NBA2K13 news that want to share?

If so, rock it out in this thread.

MKG and Kemba are both rated at 78.

I'm still playing 2k12, even though it frustrates the crap out of me sometimes. I can't stop playing my bball games, so I'm sure to grab this one too.

I hated 2k12. Still playing 2k11 right now. I'm in the seventh season of My Player. I averaged 68ppg one season playing alongside Kevin Durant and Eric Gordon. Yeah, it starts to get crazy after awhile.

I always lead in scoring and steals, its the rebounds on 2k12 that get me.

I've got a 7'2 super athletic centre with 95 defensive rebounding, but my team mate Steve Nash keeps out rebounding me. Its ridiculous.

^^^^^

You have to do the Kevin Love and basically cheat your team and give up defense to dominate the boards on 2k12, you are better off being 6'7 than 7' and the higher your vertical rating goes the harder it is to board...lol

I got 2k12 despite my better judgement and the lockout. I don't have the internet connected to my ps3 and I don't have any rookies except Rubio and Robert Vaden :(

Much to my wife's horror, I'm a crazy 2K geek. I tell her it's a form of meditation, but she's not buying it. Have my copy of 2K13 pre-ordered and set to deliver here on the 5th. I'm an Association guy, so not super excited about this latest version as most of the enhancements seem to have been made to My Player/My Career mode, even though the right stick dribble moves should be a welcome change. One of the biggest issues I've had over the last few years, is that 6 or 7 seasons in, it becomes attack of the clones - every computer generated rookie starts to look the same. I really, really wish they would tweak this - add some more facial and body type variance, but from what I've read, Association mode didn't get much attention this year.

OK - the big question - how much does Mullen's player rating increase this year? I think he was something abysmal - like a 52 - last year. I think he deserves a high 60's rating.

i doubt it goes up much. iirc the bump to 56 was to get him to the level they thought he was playing at last year. i think he was at 39 until he got traded here and started playing well. maybe he'll be a 58 or something

I used to love association mode as well, but I found the trades were to easy to win.
I got a 1st round pick for diop ffs!

Vince Carter is the second best player on the Mavs and is rated higher than Kemba and MKG. :o

Oh yeah, and Kemba, Jason Kidd, VC, Antawn Jamison, Mo Williams, Nate Robinson, Jeff Green, and Darren Collison are all rated better than Tyson Chandler.

Sacrilege. I heard the Mavs ratings sucked.

Anyone seen Bobcat ratings other than MKG and Kemba?

Those are the only two Bobcats on there so far.

Jared Dudley has a 75.

Also Luke Walton has a 66 and Kendall Marshall has a 65. Ouch.

This has a lot of the ratings. http://forums.nba-live.com/viewtopic.php?f=146&t=87525#p1539680

Mavericks have always been underrated in 2k. After Dirk won Finals MVP, he was awarded with, I think an 83.

Good link - I'm sure Kendall has horrendous defensive awareness and on-ball-defense ratings, and low athleticism ratings, which bring him way down. His passing will probably be 90+. They have signature skills this year as well which provide value beyond rating - I don't know how liberal the game will be in giving them to rooks, but he would qualify for Floor General skill, for sure, which improves the ratings of those around you.

Overall is a silly way of looking at over/under rated guys in the 2k series. Each position has different weights on attributes to determine it's overall, so Dirk as a PF who can drain shots from 3 and mid is "docked" overall points because he has, say, low block, low post d. You can see some crazy overall jumps and dips by changing player primary positions.

Having written all of that, 2kinsider was **** at ratings last time I was really into the series but was happy they were getting synergy (or someone) involved. Paydro and I used to create formulas for most of the attributes and reedit every player in the game a few years running. Life was so simple then.

As long as Terrence Williams, Greg Monroe, and Rodney Stuckey don't turn into Westbrook, Howard, and Wade like they do in 2k11, I'll be OK.

He used to be a 46 in 2k11. In 2k12 he had the same rating as bismack give or take a point. Mid fifties. He deserves like a 63 given his offensive abilities. But you also have to realize that height plays a role that isn't reflected in the overall ability category. Blocking and rebounding scores, for example, are set without including height and vertical, which contribute to whether a rebound is gotten. Also Mullens loses points for not being very good as a center or power forward because the overall ratings are weighted by position relevance

Played a bit of the demo today and think the new right stick dribble will be great once my muscle memory kicks in. Also, used the Kinect voice control feature to call picks, double teams, etc. Seemed a touch flaky, but very nice when it works. I heard that you can get a technical foul if you cuss, but haven't tried it yet. Finally, played some head to head online and it runs nice and smoove.

I've always played Association mode & am often disgruntled by the trades the CPU does between teams. I remember Kevin Love being traded for Tristan Thompson.

I was also able to dump any bad contract I had for an expiring or a 2nd rounder if the other team had cap room.

Still the 2k series is boss. Will be picking it up as we get closer to the season opener.

yea i just started playing 2k12 last month and i love it but i murder the CPU on trades....once i found that the computer values current year first rounders more than next years...i would just trade my late first this year for a high first next year..now i didnt know how good but its better than what i have. also some shots are impossible to shot with i can never get a groove with some players no matter how good their rating is....
