romero getting the win tonight doesn't excuse the fact that he was crap yet again, but in any event, glad he could finally snap that horrid losing skid.

I was watching a bit of tonight's game on my tab and I thought he was a little better than the numbers show.

Those first two runs were the direct result of two fluke hits (the first one was a little duck snort and the cashed runners came in on a chopper that JUST found the hole.).

The Orioles are really hot right now and are playing very loosely. Ricky, on the other hand, is not. You could tell from that third inning. He's getting squeezed a lot because of his poor year and the Jay's ineptness. He's holding the ball a little too tightly and aiming his pitches ever so slightly. However, it's clear that he is figuring something out, so let's hope that happens before next year starts.

I do think he is experimenting at the moment with his change-up. He is clearly trying to alter the location and the hardness of the pitch to its maximum effect. He is also throwing his curve a lot. Sometimes it falls off the table, but he got a lot of swings and misses--which is a good thing. McClouth cheating on a first pitch fastball is ok. Giving up seeing eye base hits is also ok. Making poor pitches with two strikes because you are scared **** is not. Throwing high on a routine chopper so you have to throw another 10-15 pitches in an inning also isn't good.

He does look much more passable lately, he just needs to settle down. Hopefully, after this win today, he can relax even more. At least it looks like the Jays are aware of this problem and are attempting to correct it. Let's hope Ricky's correction back to the league will be a big one.

Hopefully he can win his final start to end the miserable season we've had.

If he plays 2nd base, maybe. Otherwise I don't see him being a top hitting shortstop which is what you expect from that position.

2nd baseman don't need to hit as well as shortstops to be considered average at their position. I should have worded it differently since I don't think there's anyway we can call him a good hitter yet and I also don't think he will ever be one. But yeah his best chance is at 2nd.

You've got it mixed up. SS has the lower standard for hitting. Only catcher has a lower standard than SS.

Does anybody else think Lawrie should have bunted here or the prior at bat? I think he should have bunted both times.

Wasn't there a time where your shortstop was usually the better hitter than 2nd baseman?
