Realistic record prediction for the Lakers this season

Post#1 » by leeprettyp » Sun Sep 30, 2012 4:45 pm

I think for the best record in the West at least 62wins will be needed. At first I thought that still wont be enough to beat the Heat, but on 2nd thought the East has gotten alot stronger and Wade is making slow progress on his rehab and may miss some time. Also as much as people hate to admit it there's alot more parity in the league than in recent years. We're gonna drop some road games that we overlook (Portland and Charlotte smh)

Elite teams: (No Order)

OKC
Lakers
Heat
Celtics
Spurs (never count those guys out)

Very good teams 2nd tier:
Clippers
Brooklyn
Knicks
Grizzlies
Pacers

Good teams 3rd tier:

Mavs
Denver
76ers
Minnesota ( I expect them to be better depending on B.Roy and Rubio health)
Bulls ( Rose out, and lost alot of the bench punch from last season)
Golden State ( I really think if healthy this is a sleeper team ALOT of talent there)

With all that said in my opinion the safe prediction will be 62-20. Obviously this prediction is with Dwight being in the lineup from game 1 and with no more than a few minor injuries if that.

Whats your prediction?

If we're able to stay reasonably healthy throughout the regular season I could see us winning anywhere between 60-65 games.

65-17

Would be lower if we had better competition at the beginning of the year...but the schedule favours us,so even if we have some chemistry issues we should be winning most of the games anyways

I think the team will mesh fully after the All Star break and going into the playoffs....and that's how it should be

^ I hadn't checked the schedule that closely, but you're right. We have some of the easier games to start the season, which should hopefully help the team create some cohesiveness before facing some of the tougher teams.

Schedule makers have always been quite generous to us with the scheduling in the beginning of the season. But we know we'll have a bunch of road games towards middle to end of the somewhere. But i did take a glimpse of the schedule and although we will have those road games a lot of those opponents aren't really good teams. Good coaching, domination inside using our size and a solid bench should win most of those games

Some amount in the 60's will be more than enough to snag the 1 seed. In our first 40 games only 18 is on the road, which means a heavy road schedule to close the season. With the key stretch starting Jan. 31st. 23 of the last 42 on the road will make or break our chances at the 1 seed. Champions win road games period, we'll see where we stand.

Yea, that was a great season. Felt like we could win any game against any team.

Yeah but I say this team is much better roster wise on paper than that squad. IMO that rosters bench was heavily flawed (especially after we started Trevor instead of Luke). Only difference was we had both prime Kobe, Odom and Gasol. Bynum length was key also. But that team was so locked in on avenging the 2008 Finals lost to the Celtics.

I just think 62-20 is about right. Just want that #1 seed overall, bench players always tend to play better at home compared to the road

i don't care as much about HCA as much as i care about big game performances (both home and away)

that said, 65 wins i think is a best-case scenario
