Steve Nash wrote:"I think this is Kobe's team," Nash said. "For the media's perspective, this is Kobe's team. But anyone who's ever played on a basketball team, it's also our team. The team needs to share in that responsibility. Kobe can't do everything. He's going to be great at what he's great at, and the rest of us got to pick up the pieces that get to us. This is undoubtedly Kobe's team. He's been here his whole career. He's won championships. And he's the best player on the team. We got to be there for him every day, so it's essentially our team as well."

lol thats why Sager never asked Nash or Gasol the question cuz he wouldnt have gotten the response he would've liked. I just wish the haters would back off our squad and let us focus on getting the job done on the court

' No, it's my team. But I want to make sure that Dwight, when I retire, this is going to be his. I want to teach him everything I possibly know so that when I step away this organization can ride on as if I never left.". The key is TEACH HIM. Dwight out of his mouth admitted that he needs to learn how to become a better leader and winner from Kobe and Nash. In the future this can help our franchise continue to compete for rings after Bean is gone

Nash has no ego, Dwight has a huge one. This is Dwight's time and Kobe needs to do what Wade did last year and take a back seat to the young blood. We all saw Kobe in the Olympics, he did not look like the same guy as he was 3 years ago.

Right but Nash is one of the 10 greatest PG's ever for a reason bro. PG's naturally know how to deal with ego's and make others better. BTW here's responses from Nash, Kobe and Dwight on the current situation. Kobe goes into depth what he told Jim Buss also

Yes 3 titles came out of it, but we all know we could have gotten more if it weren't for the ego clash.

Honestly I don't see a problem with getting annoyed at Kobe when he says something that might hurt the team's cohesiveness and bring unnecessary drama to the team. Nothing wrong with getting annoyed with Kobe if he's hurting the Lakers with his behavior.

lol that man's attitude that you say has hurt the lakers has actually done the complete opposite and has won 5 rings (and possibly more). People should be more upset with Sager because he knew what he was doing. I get it that Kobe's mannerism and attitude seems to drive some of you crazy but ya'll forget that Kobe was practically raised in the league by 3 of the most egotistical people in league history lol. Shaq, Phil and MJ

Again, I totally won't dispute that there have definitely been huge upsides to Kobe's attitude, and his maniacal competitiveness. Does that mean that I can't get a bit annoyed at the downsides of it? I'm a Laker fan of course I look at something everyone in the league would be grateful for and wish it could be a little bit better :D .

As for the Sager comment, yeah his antics piss me off, but the trap is so damn obvious it just feels pathetic. I guess my reaction isn't so much annoyance at Kobe as "C'mon man really its a pit trap that practically has blazing neon signs pointing at it".

ahh I getcha. But read that article because both Dwight and Nash respond to the comment. But I rather this team get all this media drama out now so we can focus on getting better and winning the ring hopefully

Now that they're all in a room together, it does seem like Dwight's a little more subdued. Maybe he is being forced to adjust to not being the biggest star in the room... Or maybe he just has allergies...

But on the prevalent assumption that it's the former...
The best thing that could possibly happen to Dwight is him coming here thinking the team is his and having to face the fact that old and worn down as he is, it's still Kobe's team...
Correction... Taking that realization and becoming a better, more focused, scary superstar, and knocking Kobe into retirement, would be the best thing that could happen to Dwight, and Lakers fans...

Dwight has the potential to be a superstar and an intimidator, like Kobe... But he's such a goof, nobody's really afraid to face him. He could learn that from Kobe, but sometimes the only way you learn that is if you get your butt kicked (physically or mentally).

Frankly, I like a little tension on a contender... It can often be the difference between winning and losing the chip.
The Key will be how the players and coaching staff harnesses that tension.

KB24 will never be the second option. I don't even want him to do that. Dwight needs to learn patients and learn from KB. Develop that killer instinct and Lakers will be ready to go when Mamba retires.

And as for the OP, you seem like a guy that would piss a lot of people off on game day threads....

This, and I wanted to add that when you step into a group of guys of similar talent like the Lakers, you aren't 'made' leader of the team, you earn it... Or TAKE it...
Dwight should know that already. And I'm guessing if this is in fact a real issue, that's what Kobe wants Dwight to try to do...

Absolutely the best way to put it. Kobe wants to groom Dwight much better than Shaq actually did him. So once Bean is gonna Dwight can continue to lead us to rings

Kobe tried to sabotage the team when Shaq was here by snitchin on Shaq.

It wasn't sarcasm. He mean't it if you watched the video. The thing is, it wasn't in some sort of negative sounding connotation. He clearly stated, this is my team but he's prepping Dwight to take over as a leader when he's gone, because he know it will be Dwight's team. There's nothing wrong with this or what he said and I believe the rest of the team knows this.

why didn't Dwight say it was Kobes team? even LeBron said that the Heat was still Wades team when he went there.
