“@Twolves_PR: #Twolves sign six plyrs to complete tc roster: Will Conroy, Mike Harris, Chris Johnson, Phil Jones, Seth Tarver & Jermaine Taylor.”

Have to think none of them make the team, unless someone really shows something....or we make a trade moving a PG.

I could see Chris Johnson or Conroy making the team if we don't make any moves. Just as insurance for guys getting injured.

I could see them signing Conroy to a cheap contract and keep him in the d league until one of Ridnour or Barea gets dealt at the deadline.

Conroy already has a deal, guaranteed for 100k.

i have hope too. as a small market team we really gotta hold on to these types of talents and try to mold them within our system. kinda like how players develop within systems in football

I'm still pretty high on the guy. I think as he gets more experience he will become more accustomed to the game. With some of the skills he has he could be really good option. I like the approach we are taking with him though. A lot of our young guys have just been thrown into the fire and failed and it really hurt them. Flynn, Wes, Beasley all just couldn't handle it. I think letting Williams develop slowly will be good for him. Playing against some of our new guys in practice will really help him learn. Before he was going against guys like Beasley in practice, which probably wasn't good for him. Hopefully getting Beasley, and some of the other lazy guys, out of here will keep Williams from keeping any bad habits. I think him going against guys that can really defend like AK47, Cunningham, Lou, and Steimsma will be good for him. Then you have Bayno trying to teach him how to score and play the right way. I think he will be a really good 6th option this year.

Yes and yes. The front office has done a great job creating a defensive culture just with the personnel they have added. Kahn also did a good job moving all of those pieces around and still keeping DWill. He has a chance to be a big talent in this league, and we can't afford to throw away talent. They have clearly been focused in the offseason on helping him be more nimble. Now is the chance for him to really learn. He is surrounded with competent professionals who have a strong desire to win. These are the best people to learn from. Plus he has a year of familiarity with the NBA and Coach Adelman. He will have his first training camp with a nearly ideal situation.

Also, with this much talent on the roster, we can afford to be patient with DWill. I'm excited for what he will be bringing to the court in the second half of the season and next year. That's when it can all come together for him.

This training camp is critical for Derrick if he wants to see extended minutes. If he comes out playing well, he will have a good shot at being our 6th man for this season. But he won't be given anything, he has to earn it.

Like I said in the DW thread, I'm really excited about some of the lineups we can put on the floor. I'd be surprised if we ever see a Williams/Love/Pek front court, bu could easily see us use Williams with either Kirilenko or Cunningham at the other forward, with Love or Pek at center. I think both AK and Dante are great complements to Derrick's game. Both guys allow Derrick to play offensively on the perimeter in the SF role, but they would be able to guard the other SFs, so Derrick slides down to PF defensively if he has to. Last year, we really couldn't do that other than with Tolliver, who is better on the perimeter.

The teams issues with DW are primarily defensive ... .
Flip response to Love wanting out, "He has no reason to be upset, you're either a part of the problem or a part of the solution"

And playing next to someone like Kirilenko who can play offensively in the post but defend the perimeter should help that. Cunningham too.

* The Wolves will televise two preseason games on FSN and carry two radio games on WCCO 830 AM: They'll televise the two Target Center home games, Oct. 13 vs. Chicago and Oct. 16 vs. Maccabi Bazan Haifa and will radio broadcast the Oct. 13 Bulls game and an Oct. 26 game against Milwaukee at Green Bay.

Looks like AK just ran into a brick wall from Montenegro.

“@Twolves_PR: Long practice for #Twolves today...about 4 hours. Rick Adelman said he kept going because players were getting into the scrimmage at the end”

“@Twolves_PR: #Twolves Brandon Roy said he feels good after 1st practice. Said he felt comfortable on the court.”

“@Twolves_PR: #Twolves Chase Budinger sat out some of practice w/ strained left hamstring that he suffered last week. Not serious, team being cautious.”

“@MarkRemme: Observations from Day 1: Lots of conditioning, B-Roy didn't hold back, Luke's shot looks solid & team high energy/competitive in scrimmages.”

“@APkrawczynski: Adelman just raved about Derrick Williams today. Considering how he felt about DWill last year, it was eye-opening to hear”

“@APkrawczynski: Adelman sees a more dedicated, focused, harder working Derrick Williams. That would make a world of difference for #TWolves”

“@APkrawczynski: Adelman on Williams: "We talked for 4 months last yr and it was always inconsistent effort. Today he was terrific."”

“@JoanNiesen: Love: "We have different guys that can step out there and… make a real difference on this team. It’s not just me. It’s all of us together.””

“@JoanNiesen: Timberwolves asst Bill Bayno went to Montenegro this summer, said first thing he did was pull Pek's shirt up to see if his stomach was flat.”

“@APkrawczynski: Brandon Roy felt good enough to convince coaches to let him run in 5 on 5. "A bunch of different bridges I'm crossing. This was another 1"”

“@kevinlove: Great first practice. #unitedwerun”
