Hahaha.... anti-flopping rule.

We know GSW players will still get fined when Kobe is the one flopping.

Orlando-NOH game looking ugly. Anthony Davis might be my favourite player in the league though... can't wait to see him hit his stride.

Is Anthony Davis even on the court? He's had zero impact on either end throughout the 2nd quarter.

He had 2 blocks and 4 rebounds in the first quarter alone... he pretty much single-handedly kept their FG down... what game are you watching?

I started watching in the 2nd quarter (was watching the Redskins game) and he was non-existent. Got pushed around by Glen Davis, got beat by A.Nicholson, bricked two FT's, was well short on a 10ft jumper, and was generally just milling around. What game were you watching?

I'm going to state right here and now that Anthony Davis will be only a complimentary player without an important role unless he changes his game pretty drastically.

He's a great shotblocker, but he is too frail to gain position inside amongst most NBA PFs. He is a fantastic finisher at the hoop when he has space, but in the half-court he is unable to post up and his jumper is far from automatic.

Last night the guy he resembled, quite frightfully, was Yi Jianlian. Tremendous athlete, intriguing size, very exciting at times, but too weak to be a PF and not skilled enough to be SF. They are both stuck between the perimeter and the key.

The best college defensive phenom since Hakeem Olajuwon is Yi Jianlian... gotcha.

Good for him. He was obviously productive against a similar "Power" Forward in Tyrus Thomas.

Just remember to come back and say hello the next time he puts up 6 points and avoids getting banged up in the key against a legit PF.

6 points doesn't really matter if he's anchoring the living f*ck out of the defense. I've never seen New Orleans play defense like this since they had Tyson, and I've been watching like 70% of their games since they drafted Chris Paul.

It sounds like you didn't watch their first game when he was always about 10 feet away from the basket and did next to nothing to bother players driving to the hoop.

I do agree that a defensive anchor overrides some no-defense 20ppg scorer, but there are no defensive anchors in the NBA that look like Davis. They usually look like Bogut, Ben Wallace, and Dwight Howard. KG is about as close as it comes for a skinny guy that can intimidate opposing players at the hoop, but he is a one in a million type of player and has a nasty attitude to boot.

Davis goes against some pretty easy competition over the next few games-- Bobcats again, Rockets, Hawks (although Josh Smith might give him a little bit of trouble), but against Dirk, Lebron, and Duncan after that he'll have little impact, imo.

We'll see soon enough, anyway.

Yep, it's all speculation right now. I'm a huge fan of Davis's game, so naturally I looked at his debut with rose-colored glasses. I'm more excited for what he'll do when he puts on weight 3-4 years from now, but seeing him produce already is very promising.

btw, if the guy ends up getting yoked and plays with a chip on his shoulder, I'll squirm on my belly up to his bandwagon. A big, mean Anthony Davis is a player to be reckoned with.

Looks like Dirk is having some knee troubles and may need surgery. If he has to miss 10 or more games this year I think we can pass the Mavs in the standings. That team outside of him is not strong enough to make the playoffs and since they're already likely a low seed, I could see this being the difference between making it and not making it

I think its the same thing with Minnesota not having Rubio for 15-20 games, too. The West is too tough this year to be missing your star player and still expect to make the playoffs.

After the big-4 I think its now down to us, Denver, and Memphis as the faves with Portland threatening and Utah on the outside looking in.

Portland threatening? The only thing Portland is threatening is a top 5 lotto pick.
